October 11, 2007 - Precious Past BFS#6

The assignment this time is to post a baby picture of myself and then share a bible verse that reminds me of my past.
Here I am at 3 months:

A bible verse that reminds me of my past is 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." KJV
When I was growing up my father struggled with alcoholism and one of the treatment centers he went to was called New Creation based on the NIV version of this verse but also this verse really struck a cord in me from the first time I read/heard it because it gave me hope that things can always get better when I have Jesus in my life. And praise God, my father has Him and he is no longer battling alcholism as he did at that time. He still goes to AA meetings regularly as he is able, now he works a demanding job on the Great Lakes ore boats and is letting his Light shine to the other men on the boat!

October 3, 2007 - Say it in Signs--BFS #5

The Assignment this week is to use your Blog Name (or your own pen/real name) and create signs. There are two ways to do this and you can do one or both ways.
- Visit Image Chef (www.ImageChef.com) and create some free cute signs. The easiest way to explain this is follow the templates — choose, customize (type in name), and then Preview. Once you see the design, right click and SAVE to your computer.
- Now once you saved it to your computer….. you will need to upload it to an image host like www.PhotoBucket.com OR www.Flickr.com These are both FREE photo hosting sites that you can create an account, upload your pictures, and they will give you links to your pictures that you can use to upload to your blog.
AND/OR you can be really creative and create your own signs, take digital pictures and share them. (Examples….Refrigerator Magnets, Shaving Cream, Frosting, etc.)
2. Share a special verse!
Okay here are my signs...

And a verse to share...
I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

September 23, 2007 - Blogger Friend School Assignment #1

I just joined the Blogger Friend School 2007-2008 over at Training Hearts. I am joining late so I don't think I'll be able to do all the assignments that I've missed so far. I will start with the first and then see how well I can catch up. OK, now on with assignment #1!
A. Give a brief introduction paragraph on how you got started blogging and your personal goals for journaling.
I got started about a year and a half ago after reading a friend's blog. I wanted to have my own place online where I could write about my own life experiences, and it's kind of exciting (and scary) that other people can read it! My personal goals for journaling are to be consistent in posting new entries, and to always be honest and open about how the Lord is working in me and my family.
B. Share a "dream" place to blog in picture if you can.
In front of a fireplace....

At a lodge in the Upper Peninsula...

Drinking hot cocoa...

C. Answer some questions to tell us more about you:
1. What time do you usually blog? Usually late at night after everyone else is sleeping.
2. What is your favorite drink? Hot Tea, either a mint variety or Earl Grey depending on time of day.
3. What is your favorite book? Besides the Bible, I really enjoy the whole Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. My favorite from that series (although it is hard to choose since they are so unique) would have to be The Silver Chair.
4. What is your favorite dessert? Tiramisu
5. Share a scripture that has been an inspiration in your growth with Christ. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside the encumbrances and the sin which so easily entangles us, that we might run the race that is set before us." Hebrews 12:1 I am so easily hung-up by my own sin and shortcomings. It is amazing how quickly I can lose my focus but this verse reminds me why I need to press on. It's not for me, it's all for Him!
