the missionary's wife

Peace in the Valley

We are still living in the trailer, and I can see months more once we get on the property and begin building.  I have really struggled with a poor me attitude.  We are near an area where the median home price is 600,000 and it seems like everyone else is able to take care of their family in a house!

This week though a homeschool mother of 6 children from a local church died suddenly, leaving behind young children and a husband who had just lost his job.

It certainly made my struggles seem miniscule in comparison.  I am able to care for my dear children, feed my family and try to be an encourager to my brave husband.  Things these children will no longer know from their own mother.

When we are tempted to compare and feel that others have an easier path, let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Hebrews 12, paraphrased.

Mar. 14, 2006 - Hello

First, I wanted to say "hi" and thanks for visiting my blog. The more I write and hear from you all, I get inspired and really excited about homeschooling!! I really am looking forward to learning together with my girls!!
I also wanted to make a comment about your last entry: It's so easy to get caught up in our "problems" until we hear/see real tragedy like the one you mentioned. I'm so thankful we have a wonderful Lord and Saviour that we can go to for comfort no matter how big or small a trial we are going through. Prayers for the family and the loss of this dear mommy..

Hi Jennifer!

Congratulations on the new book, Homeshcooling Methods! You did an excellent job on your section! Now, with all the experience you are gaining, you can start a book called something like, "The Homeschooling Missionary" What do you think?

Whether it is a book, or a heart change, or ministering to the needy, the Lord is shaping and molding you for His purposes and use. And, He couldn't have picked a better person to do such an incredibly hard, lonely, fearful, thing as to be a homeschooler and a missionary and all the while living in a small space and a foreign land for so long.

You are a such a wonderful example of a wife who honors and supports her husband and a mother who sacrifices so much to pour into their lives. As you humble yourself in this way of life and in the sight of the Lord, He will lift you up. Don't become weary in well doing, for you shall reap a harvest .... it's true!!

Love to you and your family!

Deborah
