The Writin's of a Barefoot Okie

Nov. 7, 2007 - Goin' on a road trip!!!

I am sooo excited! Tomorrow, I am going to my friends, the Shepard's  house. On Friday, I will be leaving with Sara to go to Little Rock, AR for the Above Rubies Retreat! YAY!!! I am so excited.
After the retreat, I will stay at the Shepard's to go to Dickens On the Boulevard with them. Em, my sister is coming with is too.
For those who have never heard of it Dickens On the Boulevard is an event in Claremore. It's a Victorian Christmas Celebration w/ Live Street Entertainment, Living Windows, a Street Dance, and Interactive Live Nativity, and something called the Celebration of Trees, I am not quite sure what that is, but I'll find out. This is my first year, my friends have gone for the last 3 or 4 years.  My friend Carrie is making a dress that I am going to wear, I'll have to post a picture when I get home!

So, I most likely not have another post for at least 10 days.

God Bless,Victoria Faith

Nov. 2, 2007 - My new record.

I have officially set a new record for myself, lol.

I am well known for leaving something behind when I go to people's houses. Well, I have really done it this time. I have left my entire suitcase at my aunt's house! I came home yesterday, and we were almost here when we realized it was not in car, LOL LOL LOL. My aunt lives like an hour away. Unfortunately, my math was in the suitcase, so I didnt get to do it today. *Oh darn* hehe.

Anyways, sometimes I amaze myself.

Oct. 27, 2007 - Praise God I got a horse today!

Okay, technically he's not totally mine yet. We put a deposit on him, an he'll probably stay the winter at my cousin's house, while we (meaning mostly my dad and brother, lol) finish the barn and put up fencing.  The horse is a registered Spotted Saddle Horse. You can read about them here. The horse is a total sweeheart, he'll let you do whatever you want to him. He's HUGE, but definitely a gentle giant. I really have a good feeling about him. He's mostly black with some white. My dad took pix, but I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to post them. I can't remember how old he is, but I think he is 7 or 8. I can't remembr because I saw sooo many horses today!

Oct. 23, 2007 - Who Will Guide Them?

This is an essay, that I randomly started working on in bed one night several months ago. I got halfway through it, and got tired, so I went to sleep. Well, sitting around last Friday night, I remembered it, and decided to finish it. I wrote this because God has placed a desire in my heart to work with children. It's not the best, but I hope it's thought provoking.

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus tells the Disciples to let the children come to Him. It's clear that Jesus loves children, and they are important to Him.

In verse 13, it says that the children were brought to Him. Who were these people bringing the children to Jesus? They were most likely parents or caretakers who loved their children enough to guide them to the Truth.

Two thousand years later, Jesus' love is still the same.  A few fortunate children get to experience the love of Christ in their daily lives. Most however, do not. Sadly, there are many young children who do not know what real love is. They do not know Christ's love, oftentimes they do not even know parental love.
When I look back at the first few years of my life, I see that the experiences I had then were very crucial to making me who I am today. This causes me to realize that the influences and experiences every child has will help to determine who he or she becomes later on in their life.
Everything that happens from the time someone can remember, (or in some instances, before they can remember) leaves some type if imprints on their mind. Some imprints are good and some are bad. We need to make good imprints on childrens' minds when it comes to teaching them about Christ and Christianity.

My conclusion to this rambling, and probably confusing thought is this.
Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." My point is. It's our job as Christians to lead them and maybe not just our own children, but children who aren't raised in Christian homes, who need us as loving examples to lead them to the Way, the Truth, and the Life, which is Christ.

Hope I didnt confuse anyone too much!

In Christ, Victoria

Oct. 12, 2007 - Above Rubies Retreat!

November 9th I am leaving for the Above Rubies Retreat in Little Rock, Arkansas, with my good friend Sara. I can't wait! It looks great and I get to go on a little road trip with Sara! (she's awesome) Sara is looking for someone to carpool with us from our area.

For those who have never heard of Above Rubies, it's a ministry to encourage women in their high calling. You can read more about it here.

I think this is going to be such a good experience, I'm very excited.

Oct. 12, 2007 - Robinson Curriculum

After much deliberation, my family has decided to use the Robinson curriculum. I was somewhat apprehensive at first, but after  looking more into it, I think this is something I could really ecxel at, and I am sure the other kids, will do well also, especially Emily.

Here's the link for those who have never heard of it. www.robinsoncurriculum.com

Does anybody here have any input on Robinson Curriculum?

Oct. 10, 2007 - KITTENS!!!

Ella had her kittens!  I am going to take the digital camera to my dad's house from my mom's house tonight and get some pix. There are two white boys and a predominantly gray calico female. One of the white ones is really tiny. The smallest one is mine, the gray is my brother's, (Scott) and the big white one is my sister's (Emily). That's what we're saying at least. We're not keeping them, we are giving them away when they're old enough. Ella had them on the 4th, but I didn't get to post about it.

I need more friends on here, anybody want a friend? Add me, lol.

Oct. 5, 2007 - Lessons...

I have learned some valuable lessons since my last post.
Lesson #1
I tried to post Wednesday, but the computer messed up and erased the long post I had just written!   Then, I had to leave and wasn't able to rewrite it.
Lesson Learned: Always copy  before you click submit.

Lesson #2
About week ago I went to the chiropractor and found out I had torn my pectoralitis minor muscle. (it's a muscle in your shoulder blade) I did this while heaving a dog food bag over the side of my dad's truck. It was only 45 pounds, but the way I handled it was well, not right, lol. I knew I had hurt my shoulder when I did this about 5 wks ago, but I had NO idea I had torn a muscle. I figured it just needed to be popped back in to place, or that it would be fine in a couple of weeks. The conclusion to this story: Use caution when your lifting feed bags, and don't wait a month after you first hurt yourself to go to the doctor!

Jul. 26, 2007 - Grandpa Harmon

My great grandfather died Monday night. He had alzheimers and stomach cancer. Thankfully, he was a Christian, and he's with Jesus now. I am glad he's no longer suffering,
I will post a picture someday, I can't get it  to work right now.

Rest In Peace, Grandpa Harmon.
We miss you!

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.

Jun. 19, 2007 - I heard the Call.

I came across this poem while going skimming through a book called, "Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret." It has stuck with me ever since then, and I use it as an inspiration for my life. The authors are Dr. and Mrs. Howard Taylor.

I heard the call,

"Come Follow,"

That was all.

Earth's joy's grew dim,

My soul went after him.

I rose and followed- that was all.

Will you not follow if you hear him call?

This is a short poem, but with so few words, it has brought meaning, somehow.

I hope this blesses someone's day.
