Life along The Way with the V's | |
Big V news...Well we have had a great month. Last month we had the Festival of Praise. It was lots of fun. T was in her first dance recital and did great although she was a little nervous. D being the preformer that she is loved it as did J. J made a couple of small mistakes but covered up very well. D and N were in a science fair. They created an automatic fire escape ladder. They did great! They placed 2nd overall fo best technological project. 1st for best innovation. And also won a interview in a magazine for a feature article. They won $140 to share as well. They were pretty excited. We were pleased that many family members were able to come and see their work and display. Things have settled down again. The boys placed 3rd place in the hockey play offs. And now it is finished (happy for me! sad for them) until September. So life is still busy. R and I are gearing up for more renovations. The next project is the upstairs main bath. R brought home the whirlpool tub today. Can't wait to soak in that!! I hope that it gets done over the summer. Well that is all for now. Blessings~~~
What's the buzz??Well there isn't much that is new here. All the little ones are sick, some with viruses others with colds. This is the parenting part that is not fun! The baby had his first fever last night. Poor little guy.
Volleyball started for the boys. They are really enjoying it. They will likely be on the team and play in the tournament which is quickly approaching. The kids are all trying to decide if they want to continue in cadets or do something different instead, like volunteer at an old folks home. We'll see what is decided, either way we want them adding to the community in some way that is beneficial in more ways then just having fun.
Hockey is back on and in full force. M has found some new vigor and has decided to actually play hockey this year rather than look like Eeyore on the ice! YA M! D is doing his best to get better at stick handling and is determined to make it to rep hockey next year (all because he wants to be able to check! LOL!!) N is desperate to play too, so R made a commitment that we will get his skating skills up this year and he too can join hockey next year. Soon my life will be run by stinky sweaty boys in hockey shorts! LOL!
The bird is feeling better. We discovered that he is/was depressed. When he was sick we had to remove all his toys and keep him very quiet. So he is missing all the daily interactions with the family and his play things. We are going to integrate him back into the house activities a little at a time (so as not to overwhelm him).
I am tired, no sleep catches up real fast when there is so much to do each day. I however, stay firm and steadfast in the faith no matter what my circumstances! God is good!
Blessings~~~ girls in tights...Today marked the first day of my girls in ballet once again. The 2 younger ones looked SO cute! It is so sweet seeing them dance. T of course was so proud of herself, it makes her feel so grown up to do the "big girl" stuff that D gets to do. J is all decked out in new ballet gear from head to foot.
What a blessing to have this dance class which supports and upholds our christian values and encourages such grace in our girls.
Saturday our boys will start hockey. We'll go from ballet ribbons to hockey laces...
Blessings~~~
Phew~~~Life has gotten busy busy busy again. We are doing well in school so far (Of course it is only week 2...). We have studied Malaysia already. There are some dear sweet people who live in Malaysia that we have had the privledge of connecting with, Liman and her husband Sai Peng. They are serving the Lord there. We pray for them daily. So for school we took the opportunity to study this country. We had alot of fun with it and found out some great things that we never knew before. Like Malaysia makes most of the workd's rubber. Also they have great food. They are made of about 80% muslims but do have a certain tolerance for other religions such as christianity. They are considered the gateway to Asia as they house Indian, Malays, and Chinese alike. They are known for some fantastic longhouses where you can visit for as long as you like free of charge. Some day I would love to visit.
This week we will study the Netherlands and find out about Opa and Dad's heritage. It shall be fun!
Little E is growing so fast I had to go get him some new clothes to wear as he has outgrown everything and is now in 12 month things. My little baby is not so little.
That is all for now~~~ Blessings
School is back...Well our first day was horrible filled with much frustration and noise. The girls were loud and crazy. J was very frustrated by the distractions. The boys just had no desire to get working on their studies. I had such wonderful aspirations of starting the day out with a nice breakfast and a relaxed start but my ideas were smashed by 4 little girls! LOL!
Ah well I suppose everything can't always go as planned. We are slowly finding our new groove. I haven't started the girls on their studies yet, I needed to ease into this slowly. I figure once the big guys are in a routine of working again then I can pounce on the girls and get them busy too. I will be adding a new member to our homeschool this year, C. This in itself will bring it's own challenges and frustrations I am sure.
Onward and upward I go. Homeschooling is not for the faint of heart. I suppose it goes with my christian faith. It is a radical faith and not for the faint of heart either!
In God I can do all things by Him who strengthens me!
