Mom has a Mr. Linky up so go on over to her blog to participate.
This week I'm still working away on Andrew's socks. I'm getting close to decreasing the toe on the second sock. I'll probably start on Isaiah's socks next. Other than that I'm not really working on anything.
We usually sing this at our Love Feast (communion). It gives me the shivers just thinking about getting to meet my Saviour face to face. This song tells it all.
Written in 1893 by James M. Black. When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair; When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
Refrain:When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
This week for piano there won't be any evening worship at church because we're having a Thanksgiving carry-in after morning worship. For lessons I am playing Storm and Stress by Gurlitt, Fur Elise by Beethoven (getting close to finishing it!), Great is the Lord, Angels We Have Heard on High (yes Christmas music already!), Sonatina in D Major by Clementi, and Solace by Joplin.
My Mom decided to start a thing called Thread the Needle Thursdays. Each week you share what you are knitting, sewing, crocheting, tatting, etc. Any craft you are working on you share a little bit about it and post pictures of it if you would like. I think if she has enough people interested in it she will post a Mr. Linky so you can go see what everyone else is working on.
Here is what I am working on this week. I am working on my little brother's (Andrew) socks. Mom was supposed to make them but Keith's (my other little brother) are taking a tad longer than she thought since he has enormous feet (like I'm one to talk). I am just using a simple ribbing pattern (k3, p1). I have one done and the other one, I am ready to start the heel flap.
This is the finished one
This is the one I'm currently working on
This week for piano one of my songs is the Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa. I'd never heard the whole thing before but my piano teacher suggested I listen to it to get the feeling of it. I've fallen in love with this song. I just picture black and white film of our soldiers when I hear this. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I think this is perfect for Veterans Day. My Great Grandpa served in World War II and my Grandpa in Vietnam. I'd like to thank all the veterans and current soldiers for sacrificing their lives so I can live in a country where I'm free to serve and worship God. Thank you.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. A time to reflect on what you have and to be thankful and content with it. Instead, the media completely skips over it. They go from Halloween to Christmas not even mentioning Thanksgiving. I think I've seen one commercial mentioning Thanksgiving, other than that it's all Santa Clause and what to get everyone for Christmas. I think Thanksgiving is one of the important holidays, teaching kids (and adults) to be thankful for their families, their jobs, etc. Instead we go from gory costumes and wanting candy to wanting toys and other items completely skipping time to reflect on what we have and to be content with it.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
~Proverbs 6:35~
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
~Phillipians 4:11~
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
~1 Timothy 6:8~
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
~Hebrews 13:5~
Well my last post was really messed up. It didn't appear that way while I was writing it but when I posted it, it was all fluky.
Anyway onto the giveaway. I'm sorry to say I'm not giving this beautiful purse away but you can enter to win it by going to A Daughters Heart . Livvy made this beautiful purse for her 100th post. Isn't it pretty? It's perfect fall colors also. : )
I'm Esther. I'm 15 and I live on a small hobby farm with my Dad and Mom and three younger brothers. I love doing things the old way and am trying to help my family be more dependent on the land than going to a store to get things. I go to a Brethren church and am very strong in my beliefs. If you post a comment I will try and comment back as soon as possible but I will comment on my blog not yours. Just a little heads up. Enjoy!
