Blessings of Prayer
Blessing #1: A Deeper Relationship with God
When we spend regular, daily, unhurried time with God in prayer, we grow a deeper relationship with Him
Prayer Increases Faith
Prayer Provides a Place to Unload Burdens
- A good way to grow in faith is to keep a prayer list
- Write down concerns for family, friends, and yourself
- You can then keep track of how God blesses you, your family, and friends
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
~ 1 Peter 5:7~Prayer Teaches Us That God is Always Near
- Give God all the burdens of your life
- Put all the impossible problems in His hands and He will take care of them as only He can do.
- When we give all the cares of life to God in prayer, we can rise up relieved and freed from many heavy weights.
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear
~Psalm 46: 1-2~
Prayer Trains Us Not to Panic
- The more we pray, the more we will be reminded of God's powerful presence in time of need.
- Jesus said not to give up, give in, or panic, but to pray instead
Then He spoke a parable to them, that men ought to pray and not lose heart.
~Luke 18:1~
Prayer Changes Lives
- We are not to give in, cave in, or collapse under pressure
- We are to persevere
- Turning to God for your every need during your daily prayer will teach you not to panic but pray in times of need
Cast all of your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
~1 Peter 5:7~
I lift my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
~Psalm 121:1-2~
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
~Jeremiah 33:3~
This is Elizabeth George's:
- Count your blessings, name them one by one
- Write your own personal commitment
"I dedicate and purpose to spend the next ten years (Lord willing) developing a meaningfull prayer life."
- Make the commitment
- Take a sheet of paper and list the people you want to pray for. Next time you pray read each name aloud to God and say what's on your mind about them.
- Begin another prayer list of your personal concerns: Your #1 problem, decisions you must make, behaviors you want to change, fears that rob your joy of the Lord.
- Pray about them.
Ask, and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find, knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
~Matthew 7:7-8~
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.

~Phillipians 4:6-7~
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.
~Colossians 4:2~
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18~
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
~Hebrews 4:16~
For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers.
