Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. A time to reflect on what you have and to be thankful and content with it. Instead, the media completely skips over it. They go from Halloween to Christmas not even mentioning Thanksgiving. I think I've seen one commercial mentioning Thanksgiving, other than that it's all Santa Clause and what to get everyone for Christmas. I think Thanksgiving is one of the important holidays, teaching kids (and adults) to be thankful for their families, their jobs, etc. Instead we go from gory costumes and wanting candy to wanting toys and other items completely skipping time to reflect on what we have and to be content with it.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
~Proverbs 6:35~
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
~Phillipians 4:11~
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
~1 Timothy 6:8~
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
~Hebrews 13:5~

I agree; it's almost ironic that a holiday of thanksgiving would be right between two holidays of ''getting stuff''.
