Well I have only been here a short time and I'm tagged already...Yay! Well although my book was a good one, page 123 wasn't very interesting sorry. But I will play by the rules and here it is. The crunch of hoarfrost under their feet, the stinging cold on their faces, the feel of the sled rope in his hand---and Peggy with her head wrapped in the red kerchief. It was the best thing they'd ever done. " I like that'n." He pointed ahead. This book was Home to Holly Springs by Jan Karon. So since that wasn't very interesting there was a poem quoted by the main character that I quite liked. Here you go. " A crust of bread and a corner to sleep in, A minute to smile and an hour to weep in, A pint of joy to a peck of trouble, And never a laugh but the moans come double. And that is life. A crust and a corner that love makes precious, With a smile to warm and tears to refresh us, And joy seems sweeter when cares come after, And a moan is the finest of foils for laughter and that is life." I was tagged by Floridasunsets. I am not tagging anybody else yet cause I am still learning this thing!
This past week has been soooo busy. Busy for us homebodies at least! We started off Monday with a dentist appt. for DS. This was his first one and he was very excited. The excitement didn't last when they told him he had to have 2 teeth pulled due to over crowding. |

I forgot earlier that I was going to tell you where I came up with my blog title. Lets go back to a long time ago........ Back when I was a child. I did not grow up in a Christian home.....not even close. My step dad was an alchoholic and my mother let it go on. They were also "Yankees" and we lived in the south so family traditions and way of life were very different. And so many times I felt unworthy, unworthy and unpretty. But I thank God that I had many christian friends. I was able to attend church through these friends. I sought refuge in these friends homes and what loving parents they had! As I got older and my friends changed, I still would always gravitate towards kids that had a good solid christian background. I really looked up to these kids and their families. In high school came one very special person. This person wasn't necessarily a friend but a teacher and yes a christian, a very Godly woman. She once said to me, "Pretty is as Pretty does". I don't remember the circumstance, I certainly hope I was not doing anything "unpretty" at the time, but that has always stuck with me. I remember this quite often when I am not feeling so pretty. When I think of this, it does help me to feel pretty, since I came from not such a pretty background. It also reminds me to "think pretty". I am trying to instill that in my children as well. I look back and think of all my friends and their families and realize now that what made them seem so beautiful and perfect was that they had prettiness on the inside as well as on the outside. They had a love for God and shared it. They didn't look down on me because I was from a different kind of home than they were.

Well HI everyone! I signed up on Homeschool Blogger a couple of weeks ago but haven't written until now. I am not sure really what to say as we don't have much excitement around.....well thats not really true but it has been a little dull lately. I figured I would start out by introducing myself..... My name is Fawn and I am happily married for 8 years now. We have 2 children, my son Michael 7 and daughter Casey Rose 19months. We live on a small farm if you can really call it that. I don't really think of it as a farm but most people who visit do. We have 4 horses, cattle 2 dogs, a menagerie of cats, some chickens, a hog and whatever else we decide to collect that day. Right now we are bottle feeding 2 calves. This is our first year homeschooling, my son is in the second grade. He went the first 2 years in a public school. I wish I would have listened to that little voice inside me called the "Holy Spirit" and homeschooled him from the beginning but I didn't and thats okay.....at least I figured it out! I really enjoy reading everyones blog and love learning about the different ways you teach your children. I am reading up on the Charlotte Mason method and incorporating only a little bit right now as that is not how we started out. Next year though I hope to be able to do the full Charlotte. Well that gets me starteed anyway right. Looking forward to hearing from you and reading your blogs as well! |

Poor guy. Then we had to hurry home to clean the house for the stamp workshop I was hosting that night. Tuesday morning I had to be up early to get to the election polls. I am a poll worker and we had our primaries. It was a very long day. Plus my babysitter canceled at the last minute so I had to find another one which is not an easy task when you NEVER use a babysitter GRRRRR. Wednesday was a little calmer although I could not wake up and get it together. Thursday I had the dentist appt. and my sitter canceled on me again double grrrrr. Friday DS just did not want to work. Maybe he was still asleep too. For the most part we got all of our school work done, yay! I thought it would slow down this week but the Dentist called me late Friday afternoon wanting to move DS appt. to Monday. Then I remembered a dear friend's baby shower is Tuesday afternoon and DS team ropes that day as well. Of course Wed. is church and hmmm its starting all over again isn't it? Oh well, at least I don't have to find a babysitter for my little one this week!
