Sunshine & Daisies Cowboys & Babies

Apr. 22, 2009 - Our homeschool

So I left off yesterday talking much about our home. Now lets talk about our school. Michael is 8 and is very much laid back. He absolutely despises any kind of written work. He will do it without moaning and groaning because I don't tolerate that but there is many long hours of sighing and long faces. Wow. This Bloggin' thing is hard to do .....I have had to stop 3 times already this morning. Anyway, I try to do as little busy work as possible with him. Next year I plan on using Charlotte Mason's simply grammar. Hope it works. Any feedback I can get would be nice. Please? For math we are using Math-U-See and I plan to stick with that. He and it work well together. Science we are using  Apologia Flying  Creatures of the Fifth Day. He loves it. But I am wondering if its a little too grown up for him. I have found another science I think both he and I might like called Real Science for Kids. Have you heard of it? Please tell me about it! I may let him pick since he already likes Apologia. History we did out of the A Beka workbook this year but next year I am looking at Story of this world(I think thats what its called, gotta double check) but I still need to research reviews on that one. I would also like to learn more on Cantering across the Country as well. Sounds fun though.  I look forward to meeting other homeschoolers and discussing ideas, although I have been a lurker on many of your blogs for a while. Hope we can be friends!

We our off now to finish our school work and go pick up trash in our neighborhood and play ground along with a little playing of course! Have a great Earth Day!

Apr. 22, 2009 - Hello again! Welcome back to blogging!

I am so glad you let me know you were back! I still check occasionally but it could have been a while before I saw you!

So being frugral, have you ever checked out Ambleside Online? It is free! Most of the books are online to read or print or listen too and at the library too when you do make a trip into town. (Math is not included, but MathUSee is one the recommend!)

I am loving this curriculum. Of course now that we live just outside of a college town the libraries are big and I can get ahold of most books!

The history cycle they use is a bit different from most because they stress and English history before American History but I don't mind that.

Well, I look forward to keeping up with you here! Can't wait to see pics of your newest little one!

Blessings, Eva
