Letterboxing
Last month I was looking online and discovered letterboxing. It is a combination of stamping and a treasure hunt. We have had so much fun with it!
This is what you do. Get a stamp that you like, a small notebook, a pen, and some ink. Come up with your trail name. We are the Dragonfly Discoverers and our stamp is of a dragonfly. Get online and find some clues for your area. There are letterboxes all over the world! Here are two good websites that I've used.

After you have your clue and your supplies, pack up the family and head out the door. When you have followed the directions on your clue and have found the letterbox, you use your stamp to put a stamp print in their notebook that is inside the letterbox. Also inside the letterbox will be a stamp that you use to put a stamp print inside your notebook. Use your pen to sign your trail name and the date in their notebook and write any details of the hunt you want to include inside your notebook. Put all the stuff back inside the letterbox and rehide it well. Be sneaky so that no one sees where it is at. That's it!
Now it may not sound like much, but honestly it's one of the most fun things we've ever done as a family. It's quality family time and everyone can participate. It gets you out of the house and exercising. Let's face it-we can all use some more of that! And the coolest thing about it is that people walk by these letterboxes all the time and don't even know that they're there. It's like you're part of some special club. I know, I know. I'm such a child! I hope you give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

It was neat to read about someone finding letterboxing and having fun with it! We did some the other year, but haven't done any lately, your post reminded me how much fun we had doing it. We will have to plan some "field trips" to do some more.
We have one ready to plant, but I have not gotten out to do it yet.
Have fun!
