Pharoah Fruitankumen (part 2)

Posted in School

Our Mummies are finished!  They have taken about 3 weeks to dry.  Unfortunately Taylor did not remove all of her "organs" and her mummy was a bit mushy in places.  So we decided it would better for her to wrap one of her dolls instead.  If she had wrapped her fruit mummy, it might have started stinking and have to be thrown away.

Here are what our fruit mummies look like now.

I am cutting off the extra wire before we wrap them.  We are using strips of cloth and school glue to wrap them.  Again, the supplies and directions for this activity come from the Hearts and Hands Ancient Egypt Kit.  To read about how we made our mummies click here.

Here is Taylor beginning to wrap.

We found that it is much easier to apply the glue to the cloth that hasn't been wrapped yet than to the actual mummy.  Then you wrap the gluey cloth around the mummy.  It was messy, but not as messy as making the sarcophagus!

Here are our finished mummies!

And here thay are in their coffins.
