The things kids say
![]() Our neighborhood is involved in a crime watch program. That means that if we see suspicious activity we notify each other and the police. Kind of a formal way to acknowledge the way people used to treat each other all the time! We have signs posted in the neighborhood to notify people of the program. Well, these signs have the outline of a criminal enclosed in a circle with a line drawn through it. Think of the "no smoking" signs - same thing. So here is my conversation with DD#2 in the car yesterday: DD " Mommy, does that sign mean that if there is a bad guy in the road that we shouldn't stop for him but should run over him?" Me (with as straight a face as possible) "No, honey, that just means that we look out for each other and we will call the police if we see a bad guy." DD Long, thoughtful pause, and then, "Mommy, if you saw a bad guy would you run over him anyway?" Me, "No, I don't think we should run over anyone. We would let the police catch him." Sharky Dog said he wasn't sure how he would have answered that last one. Glad I was the one she asked or we might have a little vigilante on our hands! |
