8 chicks and another tooth...
Odd title, I know. That's just the way things are around here! DD#1 lost another tooth yesterday. She is so happy about that. Also, her big day was Sunday and I no longer have two 5-year-olds. She is 6 years old now! Pictures to follow.
Our final chick count is 8. Not bad for a first attempt at incubating eggs. The extension agent should be by to pick them up this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I have totally loved this study, but it is time for them to go. Chickens are fantastic, but they are not designed to live in your house! Have I mentioned that they poop a lot? We will miss their fuzzy little faces, and if the opportunity arises to do this again I will.
#1 son is off to Michigan tomorrow morning. His team flies out first thing and the activities begin in the evening. They are excited and have done lots of prep work for this competition. I'll let you know how it turns out.
That's the Tuesday morning update. Back to life now!

We have not tried to incubate them yet. I can see how attached you can get to them that way. It is like raising up your own kids. They are so cute. We have 125 right now and the dog ate 1 so how it goes. We eat them and have 25 laying hens too. My family enjoys this.

It was fun seeing the pictures of your chickies!!
They do poop a lot! LOL. My middle son, when he was small (he is 16 now) was given a little chick that the farmer didn't think would live. Well, he was wrong, and that thing grew and grew up in our house! What a mess it was!! LOL. But what great memories!

I. Am. So. Impressed.
I can't believe you hatched chickens in your house. And grew broccoli.
And strawberries.
I am humming "Green Acres"
Thinking of eating chicken for dinner reminds me of my chicken story. It involves Laura carrying a severed chicken head. Did I ever tell you that one?
