Art in the Park
My girls recently had the opportunity to participate in a chalk art competition at a local park. My goodness there are some talented chalk artists around here! The theme of this year's contest was "Life Under the Indian River Lagoon" and most of the contestants did a fantastic job keeping with the theme. The winning portrait featured a mermaid, which kind of puzzled me, but it was a beautiful picture. Better keep an eye out for her next time we are out in the boat  The contest morning dawned clear and warm, and my little artists were VERY excited about the contest. They each had a 50 by 50 inch square to fill. That is a very big space when you are only three feet tall! They both did fantastic and their drawings are posted below. Some of the detail was lost when they colored in all of the water, but the morning was a blast and they are already planning what to draw for next year!
