Do-It-Yourself: Peanut Butter Puppy Treats - Jun. 6, 2009

Peanut Butter Puppy Treats

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

1 cup milk

Preheat oven t 375F. Lightly grease baking sheet.

Combine flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Set aside.

In a bowl, mix together milk and peanut butter until smooth. Add to dry ingredients and mix well. Form dough into a ball.

On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently for 3-5 minutes adding flour if necessary to make a soft dough that isn’t overly sticky. Roll dough to ¼” thick. Use fun cookie cutters to cut out interesting dog biscuits.

Transfer cut outs to prepared baking sheet. Bake for twenty minutes. Cool completely before storing in airtight container.

Special Notes

This is a soft biscuit and can spoil quickly. To create a drier, crunchier biscuit that stores longer, leave biscuits in cooling oven overnight. However, like their Peanut Butter Cookie counterparts, these biscuits burn easily. If you plan to let the cookies dry out overnight inside the oven, and you are using an electric oven, I suggest turning the oven off a couple of minutes before the biscuits are actually done to avoid burning.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your menu planning is of interest to me, because for the past few months I have actually been doing that-planning the meals-writing down the ingredients-buying those ingredients-following my menu plan-and actually making what is on the list. It saves money and is less of a headache when it comes time to cook.
I will be checking back in with you often. Take care.
