Everything Skit Revisited - Jul. 11, 2009

Several years ago, a beautiful and very moving skit hit YouTube. It tells the story of how easily we get distracted and distanced from Jesus while "Everything" by Lifehouse plays in the background. Since its YouTube debut, the video has been viewed over 10 MILLION times and countless churches and youth groups created their own versions of this timeless skit. This one has always been my favorite:
However, I'd like to introduce you to another version that is a lot edgier than what you'd expect to see in church.
Are you ready for why the choreographer pushed the envelope? This wasn't performed in any church. This was performed in front of an entirely secular audience in a night club in Los Angeles. I cried. Each time I see that, I do.
I sit here and thank God for his protection in my younger years and that I didn't go through so many of those terrible things. My adopted daughter's birth mom lives a life very similar to that video. It's so sad and breaks my heart. This is real, its life for some people.
