Weekly Wrap-Up

With the Lord

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word is the sword of the Spirit written to guide me in you righteousness, to teach me your ways, to protect me from evil, and to show me your love. Yet, I haven’t read more than a chapter in the last couple of weeks. I ask for your forgiveness for my neglecting our special time together and for failing to write your words on the tablet of my heart. I also want to thank you. Thank you, Lord, for your protection in spite of my laziness. Thank you for your faithfulness in spite of my own lack of faithfulness. Thank you for the gentle urgings of the Spirit convicting me to open my Bible again. And thank you, Lord, for being you. Amen.

On the Homefront

Home was a little off this week. My hubby was away for most of it. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not the type to fall apart just because my husband is out of town; however, everything feels just a bit off the entire time. Things aren’t quite as they should be. I don’t sleep very well, either. Next week isn’t going to be any better, by the way. Hubby will be gong at the beginning of the week, and then I’ll be away for a couple of days at the end of the week. I’m looking forward to Sunday!!

In the Schoolroom

The kids are finishing up their summer work while I’m planning for the fall. It’s going to be one of our most active seasons ever, but I’m kind of excited about what we have planned. Jared will be in Scouts again this year as well as joining choir and karate. Colleen will be continuing with Girl Scouts and horseback riding, but we’re adding a drama class to the mix. Should be a lot of fun! I’m still trying to decide on curriculum, though. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post our curriculum next week.

At the Workplace

I’ve started a series of interviews for my book. The story is going places I’ve never been so to keep things authentic I’ve decided to lean on the experts. Boy, I’m learning a lot!

On the Exercise Mat

Yes, I’ve been keeping up on my exercises! Yeah!! Colleen and I have our torturous bike ride in two weeks. Hmmm, maybe I should stock up on Ben-Gay…

From the Library

I finished the last of the Baxter series books by Karen Kingsbury and nothing else is really jumping out at me. I guess I’ll just have to wait until Take Three is published. In the mean time, I’ve pulled out Lies Women Believe again. However, this time, I’m actually doing the study guide with the book.

On the Creative Side

Finished a new top for myself and did a little watercolor painting this week. Nest week, I need to cut out a few more pieces of clothing for both my daughter and myself and some jammies for Jared. Unfortunately, my sewing room gets very hot in the afternoon right now so I’ve been avoiding it. Maybe I’ll rig up a fan to blow more of the air conditioning into the room.

In the Garden

The okra is done and gone. Half of the garden has been tilled, and I have the blisters to prove it. You see, we don’t have a tiller. We till by hand with a pitch fork, and since grass and weeds love the soft fertile soil, tilling the eight hundred square foot garden in 90+ degree summer heat laced with thunderstorms is quite the challenge. Yes, I do wear gloves to protect my tender hands, but it doesn’t really help, and I always end up with a row of blisters across the top of my palm. It doesn’t hurt as much today so maybe I can help hubby finish turning the soil. After the soil is turned, we’ll cover the entire garden with a couple of inches of compost and manure and a large sheet of plastic. The plastic traps the sun’s heat and bakes the soil for a month killing any fungus or nematode living in the soil. Then the garden will be ready for planting in the September. Remember here in Florida we do things opposite of everyone else. When northerners are planting in spring we’re harvesting, and when they’re harvesting in fall, we’re planting.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you had a blessed week and would like to share. Check out Carol’s blog and share what’s been happening in your week.

Betty

Grace and peace be yours in abundance. 1Peter1:2b

The Lies Women Believe book and study guide are wonderful! I actually planned to teach a 13 wk. class from that study, but now that I'm working and it requires every other weekend, teaching is just not an option. Plus, I simply don't have time to add anything else to my full schedule.

Thanks for the kind words you posted on my blog. I have seriously thought about closing down my blog so that perhaps I would devote more time to other things, but I just don't want to shut it down.

Plus, with the asthma stuff I'm dealing with, I *am* getting some helpful hints from those who see those posts.

Not only that, but I started my blog as a ministry, and right now, outside of ministering to my own family and to my patients at work, my blog *is* my outside ministry, and I *can* do it at my own convenience. :-)

Thanks again for your kind words. They were a breath of fresh air to me.

My prayer could be exactly like yours. ((hugs))

You sound like you have so many good plans and I pray that things fall into place and be a blessing. I know it will be very funny for me when my hubby and two oldest boys are on their camping trip this coming week. I will probably find myself blogging a bit more to fill in the gaps and help distract myself from missing him.

I am soooooooo glad you are doing WWU's it is so fun and a great way to have fellowship. [0= I love hearing what you are up to. It is neat to hear how your seasons are different and what you are doing compaired to us. [0=

Sending you HUGE (((HUGS))) my SSiC
In Him<><
