Weekly Wrap-Up

With the Lord

I’m working my way through the book of John. It’s very slow going. There’s just so much to take in, and I no longer read to finish a goal. I read to understand. If that means reading a chapter a day, then great. If it means reading a single section a day, then great. I want to share with you a beautiful verse I read this week.

He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

‘Nuff said.

From the Heart

You can read about this picture in my post titled “The Ride of a Lifetime.”

Can SOmeone Pick Us Up Off the Ground Now?

On the Homefront

We are finally going on a vacation! We’ve reserved our favorite campsite at Stone Mountain in Georgia. Five days of camping, hiking, fishing, letterboxing, and eating s’mores around a campfire. We’ll be going the third week of September. I can’t wait!!

In the Schoolroom

The kids continued working on their lighter summer lessons. We won’t start our fall curriculum until September, and even then we’ll do it in stages. So, until we officially start the new school year, our goal is maintenance.

On the Exercise Mat

I’m pretty sure that finishing a 34-mile bike ride was enough!

From the Library

I finished Colleen Coble’s Lonestar Sanctuary, so now I’m on to her new novel Lonestar Secrets. Unfortunately, the fall semester has started at USF, and I don’t think I’ll have much time to enjoy much fiction. Both of my classes have a pretty heavy amount of required reading.

On the Creative Side

My creative side was lacking once again this week. Although, giving my daughter an empty camera box for her birthday and hiding the camera in the present her brother gave her might be considered creative. Definitely mischevious, but maybe a little creative, too

In the Garden

Hubby is nurturing our seedlings along nicely while the soil bakes under a heavy sheet of plastic. However, my dog, who never jumps the garden fence, keeps going in there after it rains. I wonder if she thinks it’s a big slip and slide?!

Soil Solarization

I just ordered Abeka Science 8th grade to try with Kaitlyn. I probably won't be doing a lot of labs with it though since I can't afford the lab kit. She did a lot of labs last year with Apologia so I am not too worried. My snake probably gave you one more reason to leave FL =0)

Aug. 25, 2009 - Letter Boxing???

OK, perhaps it's a southern expression, but what are letter boxes? You said you'd be doing them on your Georgia trip...

It's been nice "meeting you" here via the Weekly Wrapup! I'll be sure to visit again!

God Bless,
Lori (aka Plans4You)

What a fabulous week you have had! 34 miles? Wow!
The Week of Bounty was easy to set up. We ask folks to bring their cast offs to the church by a specific date and time. All items were stored in a sunday school class room and for one sunday we switched up the classes to make it work. All items had to be in good working order and clean. Sunday after church the "committee" put all the items out on the lawn. Folks were then permitted to shop free to their hearts content. Good Will got the left overs except the clothing which went to our church clothes closet. It too a few groups of folk to pull this off. Someone to be available to recieve the goods the week of the yard sale, a few folks ot sort and cull, several folks to set up the day of. It was a blast.
