The New Year Is Approaching!

Well the new year will be here next week! Wow has this last semester flown by! As I reflect back on the past few months I feel good about what we've done so far. I feel somedays like we have gotten nothing done. Does anyone else feel like that? At the start of the year both of my "twigs" were a little behind in their subjects so I had an accelerated plan to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. The "twigs" had some holes missing in their learning for various reasons. I wanted to fill those holes in and make sure they were on the same page. We have done kindergarten material this semester and plan to do 1st grade material next semester. I'm not the most scheduled person so we have gotten a bit off the original path but we are only about 2 1/2 weeks behind so I feel pretty glad about that. I don't want to rush the next level at all since most of this will be new to my "twigs". For the past 4 1/2 months we had some new info and some old info, so we were able to rush through some things.

I am very excited that we have been using the MY FATHERS WORLD curriculum. It is awesome. I still kinda kick myself sometimes that I didn't buy it sooner. Has anyone else fallen into the "I can just make things cheaper and put my own stuff together, instead of buying a curriculum package." Well I think overall I spent more money doing that last year then if I had just bought from MFW.  Their prices are very affordable and the best quality on the market. I can see my "twigs" progressing in their learning much much faster than our "home-made program" or the "private school experience" they have had in the past.

I look forward to the remainder of this year with excitement and joy. Last year at this time I was worn out and bored with what we were doing (a new "twig"might have had something to do with it, lol) and I really needed a break. But I kept thinking it will get better, and I hate to not use this stuff when we paid all this money for it, or the never ending fact that we couldn't afford the price at the time (with the new "twigs" arrival) but I guess it was a learning experience for a rookie homeschooler like me!

On that note I want to close with just encouraging all of you out there to focus this next semester on just loving your kids, make every moment count, count a day lost when you haven't learned anything, and finally enjoy the days that God has blessed you and your children by being able to home educate in the first place. Oh and not to forget try MFW you won't regret it, lol!

My first entry!

Hello everyone! I've been thinking about starting a blog for awhile but finally did it! I have more time now that we're on our Christmas vacation, lol! I'm busy busy making Christmas presents. I make teas and so I got a new one to share with my family and friends. My kids loved helping me make it. I enjoy learning about using herbs and homeopathy.  I have five little Twigs in our family tree. The youngest is sick and so I've been putting some of my new skills to the test and it's working. My peeps played and watched movies today for the most part. We have "movie marathons" here sometimes and today we had Xmen movies playing. Well that's all for now! I'm new at this so it probably won't be real good for awhile. Take Care!
