Jan. 1, 2008 - Happy New Year!

Happy 2008!

We had a great New Year's Eve - and our first oops of the year.

After all the busyness of Christmas, we have really come to treasure slow, enjoyable New Year's Eves together as a family.  We normally eat yummy foods, watch movies, and stop the movie 5 minutes before the ball drops to watch the ball drop and celebrate the new year together.  My youngest decided she wanted to see the ball drop this year.  She started asking around 4 p.m. how much longer until it drops.  My honey ended up working late, so the girls ended up watching some movies they wanted to see in the afternoon.  We wanted to watch the Chickfila Bowl so turned off movies to watch the game.  Some of the girls were anxious for the game to be over so that we could watch Meet the Robinsons as a family.  It was a great game that went into overtime.  (Sorry girls.) :)  Finally we started the movie.  It was near the end of the movie as it approached midnight.  Someone suggested we turn the movie off at 10 til but I told them to wait until 5 minutes til midnight.  Finally around 5 minutes until, we turned off the movie and turned on the local networks - no ball.  We flipped around and found people sweeping up the confetti.  The kitchen clock said 12:01.  The clock we were watching was 5 minutes slow, so they missed the ball drop.   Not a big deal but we did have a couple very disappointed girls on our hands.  We still were able to toast in the new year with sparkling grape juice and enjoy our evening together - and then sleep quite late today!

Happy New Year to you all!

In His love.
