I'm so glad it's Friday. We had a wonderful week! School lessons were done, also had a successful week watching an 8 week old baby girl. She was super good and is so precious! I'm just glad it's working out. We all just love her! Surprisingly, my 20 month old son has been so good with her. I was afraid he would get jealous of me holding a new baby, but he doesn't mind a bit! He likes to sit by her and read a book, even when she's sleeping in the swing. :)

We are enjoying the Learning Adventures. My daughter is reading the book, The Golden Goblet, out loud and my oldest son truly enjoys listening to the story.

Here's the book, but ours has a different look on the front cover.

The lessons we did today:
Bible - Matthew 6:19-21, Luke 12:32-34, John 14:2, 3 ~ We read the scriptures and talked about the Egyptians religious beliefs and what the Bible says about storing up earthly treasures.
Also continuing with memorizing Psalms 24.
Writing - Improving the paragraph they started yesterday. My oldest daughter did an excellent job of writing the paragraph. My son still needs help with writing. He's going to take some writing lessons from the The Institute for Excellence in Writing, so hopefully that will help him get a better understanding of writing with structure and style. Kayla took the course earlier this year and it has helped her greatly!
Vocabulary - cease, barbarians, surliness, gesturing, disdainfully, obsequious, natron, skeptically, poly (many), polygon, polytheistic
Literature - The Golden Goblet, chapter 5, discussion
Social Studies - mummification in Ancient Egypt, reading on topic
Science - going to start a desert booklet ~ we'll be doing some research including maps, vocabulary words, illustrations, graphs, charts, facts and summaries of deserts. This will be fun!
Math and Personal Reading
Today, we made Honey Cake that went with yesterday's lesson. It was alright, not the best cake eaten though. It's a little like spice cake but rather bland and a little dry. If anyone's interested in the recipe. Just let me know and I'll be happy to post it! :)
