Polishing Gems

Week By Week

We've officially completed our first four year History and Science cycle.  Tomorrow is the beginning of our new "term."  Four years ago, when Sarah was about to start Ancient History as a first grader, I did a mini geography unit to prepare her map skills for map work in History.  I did the same mini unit when Hannah began first grade.  This year, Holly is nearly a first grader and we'll be expanding our usual first grade unit to include my 8, 10, and 3 year olds.

Our summer routine follows:

6:30 piano for Sarah/ others up, dress, 8 minute exercise, straighten upstairs

7:00 breakfast, kitchen, Psalm, Proverb, Prayer

7:30 "Together School"

-Math Drill for 3, 10 min.

-Spelling Drill for 2, 10 min.

-Music Theory lesson for 3

-My Father's World Exploring Cultures and Countries

-Read Aloud

-Finish Basic work in Math or L.Arts/Practice violin and piano

The rest of the day will remain the same with lots of free time outside, play time with neighbors, and trips to the pool.  Once their basic work is done Sarah and Hannah will begin learning to type.

This week Hannah will continue finishing 2nd grade math.  Sarah will continue with her 4th grade English.  We will start MFW, continue with signs of spring, and begin reading Stepping Stones To Faith for our summer family devotion time.  The pool isn't open yet, so we'll be playing outside and taking hikes as able.
