Polishing Gems

More Excitement!

Of course Dan was out of town when I realized my breathing was taking a turn in the wrong direction.  I found a neighbor to care for the girls and headed to the hospital yesterday afternoon.  When I arrived my oxygen was in the 80s.  My lungs were rattling and required an immediate breathing treatment to help my air exchange.  I reacted to the albuterol and needed a shot of epinephrine and oxygen ,but I was able to finish the breathing treatment.  Soon, I was breathing more easily.  I rested with oxygen for an hour and had an x-ray before being discharged.  The diagnosis was pneumonia in both lungs and I was treated for bronchospasm.  The Dr. prescribed several medications and predicted I'd feel better within 24 hours.  I'm happy to report that he was right!  Oxygen getting to cells is a good thing!!!  I had my first night of sleep in three weeks - amazing.

In the midst of all this God's hand has been plainly seen.  Our neighbor took all four girls without a thought yesterday afternoon.  She fed them and even offered to keep them all night!  The girls had a wonderful time there and I knew they were safe and in good hands.  A friend has delivered homemade, healthful meals throughout the weekend.  We feel encouraged and blessed by her practical thoughtfulness.  Sarah has stepped up to the plate and kept up with our basic home maintenance routine, including the kitchen, and the other girls have done all of their routines and jurisdictions during my illness.  The state of the house has not declined or added to my suffering.    Yet another blessing is that the girls have played together and found things to do without pushing the limits or fighting.  We've had a lack of drama, unusual for our home, and I am thankful.

The medicine is working and I'll be set for Disney next week.  I might even be able to handle packing!

... that you are seeing the end of the tunnel. Have a great time at Disney!! Enjoy that family.

How wonderful that your girls are doing well -- I'm not sure my kiddos would not resort to hair pulling, and screaming. :/

Thanks for the good report.
