Just went to another blog and she made one interesting comment: "one of the main concepts driven home was that we need to make learning for our kids interesting, relevant, and accessible. We need to bring them to the table and dialogue with us about topics. If our kids are not active participants in their education, they will stop being interested in learning."

Hmmm...this makes me wonder if I've been driving my children too hard in their learning. There's always this struggle how not to let learning become a chore. I'm thankful to have bright and active children. But how I wish there is not need to let them sit for PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) when they turn 12 in the year! It is compulsory for all citizens to comply here in the country.

I need to listen more to what they are trying to tell me. Have I been engaging them in their learning or have I been pushing my agendas down their throat so as to fulfill what I've planned?

It's funny when my sis told me how she stopped her son from reporting his findings on the best service provider for mobile line and internet connection. He had been giving her his daily report for nearly a month until she put a stop to it.

Imagine her surprise when she read about a new school opening in the area of science and technology, in which one area of study was in asking students to research on the best plan being provided by the local telecommunications companies! LOL! This sharing somehow makes me smile as it dawns upon me that we should continue in Delight-directed learning as advocated by Charlotte Mason.

Ok, time to conduct a home-education meeting and ask my students for an honest feedback so we can move ahead with much joy and good memories!
