A family reunion of sorts

We had a very nice weekend!
Saturday, (after the rummage sales,) we went to see Paul's dad.
Paul's folks live in Florida for 1/2 of the year, and although they come back to WI for the Summers, they spend much of the time on the opposite side of the state, and so we don't get to see them much. This weekend we got to see them twice!

On Saturday, Grandpa called to say that Grandma had gone shopping with her daughters, and that he was all alone. So ...we drove down to spend the afternoon with him. We had a nice time visiting, and we all went out for ice cream, (although I think hot chocolate would have been more appropriate due to the weather!)
Boy did they pick a bad week to come back from Florida!

Joseph also had to ask Grandpa about his time in the military.
(I just hope Grandpa wasn't too offended when Joseph asked,
"Grandpa...were you in the Trojan War?")

On Sunday our niece was Confirmed.
Paul's sister held a party/lunch in her honor, and so we all went to their house.
The kids were SO excited to see their step-cousins! We don't see them very often, but when we do the kids are just thrilled! (Especially since Julie and Joseph both have cousins that are only months apart in age.)

We also took a photo of the whole family (...and wouldn't you know it...my eyes are closed.)

Ok, first things first..
I just had a 'moment' outside....
I think I said something to you yesterday about J learning the hand brakes on his new bike...I'm thinking I said to have him use the LEFT brake...WRONG, bad idea! So sorry. Total brain fart/lapse/mis-fire. Oh my goodness LOL I sat outside today and it hit me..oh shoot! No! Do NOT just grab your left brake Joseph!! LOL Just in case, for some reason, mom and dad weren't paying attention themselves and had maybe mentioned left vs right. I couldn't NOT come back and correct that. Oy. I feel like such a doofus right now LOL
Right brake Joseph...RIGHT brake..controls rear. So, never swiftly pull only the left, lest you flip over the handlebars. Oy. Did I mention Oy? LOL

Now....
Got my conscience clear haha

Cool that you were able to get together with family. Very nice that the cousins are close in age to your kiddos. That's awesome! My kids don't have that :( Bummer.
No cousins and even though they have close 2nd cousins, we're still talking 16 for the youngest.

When we were reading Dante and Marissa was writing a book report, her report was a little short on detail. I asked Marissa, "Who's your audience?" She didn't know what I meant so I pushed, "If someone hadn't read Dante in high school, would they understand the plot by reading this report?" Somehow... we got to, "Do you think Grandma read Dante in high school?"

To which Marissa replied, "It wasn't written yet! Uh, don't tell grandma I said that!" I did. And, my mom had a good belly laugh!
