Photo Essay: The life cycle of a butterfly

Caterpillar Chrysalis Butterfly Up until this point, this is all we have seen when we have ordered caterpillars. But  LOOK !!!   This year we get to see the COMPLETE cycle!!!! EGGS! AND...right back to Caterpillars!!!  ( they're so tiny and cute!!!) How tiny?    Well here's a photo with my thumbnail in the picture... It's so incredible!   (Now...how to find enough food for about 100 baby caterpillars?!?!)

This is way cool! We ended up with a bunch (only about 15) of caterpillars one year that came in at the end of fall with my parsley. They ate through much of the plant... I have no suggestions on feeding them. Are there any native plants close by that you can relocate them to that they will eat? I know that I couldn't get more parsley from the grocery store because it is treated for "parsley worms." When I had 15, they were kind of stinky ~
