Update on Katie-Noel

Thank you to all of you who have asked about, and prayed for, Katie lately.
She is doing..."okay."

We are sort of in a pattern of two steps forward - one step back as far as seeing any progress, and it appears she may be going through another one of her regressions again.  She's been 'off' for the past few weeks, and following a similar pattern as before... she made great progress in both her speech and motor skills for awhile, but now she is back-sliding in both areas.

Her occupational therapist was pretty convinced that she would be 'graduating' out of OT this month.  She said that she would do a 'final' evaluation yesterday  - just to check, but that Katie had made such great progress, she was pretty sure that she wouldn't qualify for OT services anymore... (and I was thrilled at the prospect of only having TWO therapies to drive to each week!)  Unfortunately, her therapist came out to the waiting room with a very puzzled look on her face after the eval.  she said that Katie actually did worse on yesterday's eval. than she did on her initial evaluation, and that her coordination just seemed really 'off' yesterday.
So....we're scheduled for (at least) another month of OT.

Katie has also been having trouble with speech again, though.  She's not as bad as we have seen her in the past - but she's running her words together a lot which makes her difficult to understand.   Her speech therapist has also noticed a marked difference in her progress.

The most frustrating part is that we still don't know what's causing all of this.
The MRIs and EEGs are all clear, she has no allergies (food or otherwise,) her nutrition is good, we even started her on fish oil supplements as we had heard such positive things about them with children that have apraxia...but we haven't noticed a difference.

My little Katie is a mystery.
And yet, I find comfort in knowing that she is exactly the way that God made her to be.

Sorry to hear about the challenges with Katie-Noel. She is an adorable and sweet little girl though - at least it looks like it. Thankfully she isn't in any pain, right? I will pray that solutions are made apparant but rest in the Lord who is control and know you and knows Katie from the inside out!
What a mighty God we serve!
Have a great week!

I'm so sorry that she's experiencing challenges. It's so hard to watch sometimes.

Of course I'll keep her and your whole family in my prayers. Like you said, she's just like the Creator intended, and that's enough for me. ;-)

Thanks for the update. My Jaedyn is a puzzle too. People ask all these kinds of questions wanting to know why...I've been trying to figure that out for 9 years. The only things I've figured out is the artifiicial colorings, preservatives and so forth play a role...and so do immunizations. Her EEGs have both been normal, and yet she obviously is having seizures. I am requesting a 24 hour eeg, I think, but they are so unpredictable!
