Self portraits

My friend Sally, over at Diamonds in the Rough, had such a great idea on how to do easy self-portraits...that we just had to give it a try ourselves!

First we took a good close-up of our heads, and then we used a photo-editing program ( I used Photobucket,) to turn it to greyscale/ black & white

We printed these out and taped them on our patio door
( which let the light shine through from the back. )
Then, we placed another piece of plain white paper over the top,
and the kids traced their photos.

And here are the finished results!

Pretty neat, huh?!

Sally also said that,
"If you leave the photos in color, you can use teeny colored pieces of paper from magazine pictures to glue over them and make a collage of their faces."

We'll have to give that a try sometime, too!

(Be sure to visit Sally's blog and see her girls' great portraits, too!) :-)

Michelle, those are awesome!! What a great job your kids did!! I can recognize them even without the photos. Wow. Someone there has some talent! You must be so pleased!

I will see if I can find the colored collage ones our kids did, and if I can I will post them. That was a few years ago, though...

My oldest dd, C, saw it and immediately said that she wants to give it a try too. We'll have to do it soon.

I really enjoyed looking over the posts I've missed over the last week or so. You've been busy. I love the scrapbook pages. I think you must have had an awesome year! I'm amazed at how you put MFW and FIAR together. I'm overwhelmed thinking about what to do next year. What ages are all your kids again?

Have a great weekend.
