At Home With Jesus!

All alone

I am feeling very peculiar.

My house is empty....ALL of my kids are at VBS!

This is Annabelle's first year and she was pretty excited to go, ( although a bit apprehensive, too, as she's never been away from me (in that type of setting) before.  She decided to take her blankie with her to help ease her nervousness...Maybe tomorrow she'll be brave enough to leave it at home.

Now...whatever will I do with 3 whole hours to myself?

Oh yeah....I forgot....

Today we start our swimming lessons, and for the first time all my kids are old enough to be in the pool! No more baby on my lap while the older ones swim-- kind of bittersweet, isn't it? The same goes for VBS which for our family is next week. You have a lovely blog! - Mellanie (I forgot to log in.)

I actually don't mind household chore too much if I get to do them in peace and quiet. It's a little like kinetic therapy. Of course I'm also the kind of person who cleans to relieve stress . . . this may or may not apply to you. LOL.

How did you get out of volunteering for VBS? I have tried every year. This year, I hadn't even signed my kids up. If my kids don't go, I am not obligated to help. Right? Well, that is until a frantic call about needing child care. So, our church does VBS from 6-8 PM. The kids I had were all the volunteer's kids who were too young for VBS. There were only about 4 kids each night. Do you know how crabby a tired 1 year old is when it is past his or her bedtime and they are at church with a stranger instead of being dressed, fed and put down by their mom? Multiply by 4.

Never, ever again...

Oh, and your laundry room. When I was looking at houses, I insisted on an upstairs laundry room. So, I have one. It is a 5x5 foot space behind the kitchen. The washer/dryer and cat litter box are back there. So, on laundry day, I sort everything on my kitchen floor. Oh, and the best part is that I carry all the laundry up and down stairs anyway. The basement is a cat free zone. The master bedroom is newly situated in the basement. So I fold everything on my bed to avoid cat hair and then carry it back up to the kid's rooms. Why did I want a tiny laundry room upstairs? I do hope it pays off after the kids move out and we move back upstairs.

Now, is that three hours for five days?? I really wouldn't know what to do with myself (after I did the laundry and the dishes).

Well, I hope you do something inbetween loads, anyway! I am trying to decide if we'll do VBS this year. If the kids go, I have to help. I am thinking it is not very restful to help with 800 kids for 5 days. I'll take my 3 without a break, thank you.
