All Because Two People Fell In Love

• Jan. 26, 2007 - Adoption pains

I am having terrible feelings of sadness.  We have two girls that we adopted.  They have been the highlight of my life.  But there are things that happen these girls that should or should not have happened.  There were needs that did not get met when they were tiny.  They have problems attaching now.  There are things that need to happen in order for a child to grow up normal.  when those needs are not met the trust they should have learned turns into anger instead.  They have a hard time trusting anyone or letting anyone else be in control.  We have terrible issues with control.  My precious little girls that I love so much are afraid to let me be in control, they are angry with me, they are rejecting me.  It hurts so much to be rejected.

I have also been rejected by friends because my children are not "normal."   I am the one who is not a good parent.  I am not strict enough with them, that is why my kids are not obedient.  I am not teaching them about God and instilling them with Biblical teachings.  My children are a bad example to other children and parents do not want their kids around mine.

My heart is breaking.  I have been rejected by my kids and friends.  God gave me these kids and I am thankful, but I never thought it would be so tough.  I waited for 8 years to get my kids, many tears were lost during that time, but the tears are not finished.  My God loves me and my kids, He is the only one who can help me through this time.  What would I do without Him?

• Aug. 1, 2006 - Summer Days

Ever have days when things are just pleasant?

Today I put my son down for his nap.  He likes to look at books as he falls asleep.  I checked on him a few minutes ago, and he was asleep and the book was still there as if he was reading it.

(I somehow got the underline on and can't get it off)

My nine year old daughter has been reading "Island of the Blue Dolfins"  She has been a couch potato all day.  Every so often she pops her head up and tells me something exciting in the book.  We have looked up several animals on the web today also.  What is a "devil fish"  and "Sea Elephant".  Interesting names for sea lion and octopus.

Blackberries are starting to be ripe.  The kids came inside this morning with berry stained faces and hands.  There are enough wild bushes to keep them busy for weeks.

Anyone have advise about "Story of the World"  I just ordered it.  It looks like it is going to be fun and interesting.  It is so funny how in the spring I can't wait for summer break  and now I can't wait to start school again.

• Jun. 5, 2006 - The Big Trip

We are finally on our trip to Mt. Rushmore.  We started the drive out here on Friday night.  We chose to drive through Idaho along  the Snake river.  It was so beautiful!!!  The water was really raging.  There were several white water rafters who braved the cold water.  At one point we saw a rafter fall off his raft and was able to get back on.  Bbbbrrrrrr.

Next we climbed the mt. range that Lewis and Clark traveled.  We talked about the direction the river was going as we crossed the  Continental Divide.  Really great to see some things in real life.

In Montana we drove through some Indian territory.  I would have liked to stop at Custer's last stand.  But by this time we were in a hurry to get done with the 20 hour drive.  But it was fun to drive through an indian reservation.  At one point the girls were excited to see some "indians in a yard."  They were so excited.  We also saw lots of  "indian horses."

We got to South Dakota finally, and it was worth the drive. We went and saw the mountain today, it was so interesting to see how they made it.  How can someone use dynamite for 90% of a statue?  Some big talent.  I hope we get to see the new monument they are in the process of building.  My oldest DD is very interested to see it.

It's been a great opportunity to teach 'on the road'.  We use every chance we can get, right?  And the kids eat it up.

I will have to post pictures later because I forgot to bring the cord to connect the camera to the computer.

• May. 16, 2006 - I won a prize!

I just created my blog yesterday.  I was really surprised that I was the 6000th blogger!!  I was sent a note telling how I won a prize!!!   Hopefully this is a good sign.  I was a little leary about creating this blog and the comitment to it.  But I think it is going to be good.  Here is the site if you want to read about being the 6000th blogger:  http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/hsbcompanyblog

Mother's Day was a nice day.  I feel like the day was too much, more than I deserve.  I feel I was treated so special, but I do not do anything to deserve it.  Some mornings I wake up and feel like we should all go back to bed.  I really mean it.  Maybe I am the one who should go back to bed.  Maybe another cup of coffee will do the trick.

• May. 15, 2006 - First time trial

This is the first time I have done anything like this before.  I do not think I will have much time.  I already have one up from naptime.

6 hours later......got everyone in bed, now I have time to dink around.  It's been a hot day and the windows are all open.  Is that the faint smell of skunk?  Ah, country life!  We opened windows in the tower to draw cool air from the basement.  Works better than AC.  It was a stunning sunset tonight, something never got to see in town because of all the rooftops.

We're revamping our homeschooling plan for the upcoming year.  When we moved into this new (to us) house (fort), our homeschool system was thrown into disarray.  But things are settling down.  Or at least we're getting used to chaos (my dh  sledgehammered a closet out of my living room last month and the gaping scar is still there.)  So I'll be browsing through everyone's blogs getting tasty tidbits here and there.
I'm sure this new country life will be prime for the homeschooling life.  The kids have already learned lots about snakes,  raccoons, cougars, and an evil horde of boxelder beatles.  Not to mention our own little herd/gaggle of pheasants.
We should be able to create a  fabulous insect collection.
I'll keep you posted.
Right now we are looking at starting with SonLight next year.
