Free To Be

• Apr. 14, 2007 - Weekend Chores

I don't know about all of you, but I was so tired of snow today, I washed all the winter clothes and packed them away.  We are supposed to have snow this week, but I just want spring to come!  I figured if I packed the snow clothes away, the snow will go with it.  Nice rationalization huh?

We watched our good friend's little girls this week, and had all kinds of things planned, but we only got to finish one.  The toddler got sick in the middle of the night, and I spent the next 18 hours cleaning up and cuddling her.  Poor little thing was so sweet about it, and I'm sure her belly hurt.  I've never seen a baby that was ill and didn't cry or at least fuss, but this little one just calmly took it all in stride.  The only thing she did differently was that she wouldn't let me out of her sight, and wouldn't let my husband touch her - and he is usually her favorite.  It broke my heart when I thought about it, the girl's mother died over a year ago, and to this poor little girl, I was the closest thing to a mommy she had right then.

Isn't it amazing the things that come into our lives and make us contemplate the path God has put us on.  This poor sick little baby was put in my care at a time when she needed a mom to put her needs first, and I was chosen to be that mom.  It was a pleasure to be her comfort, and I feel more than ever that God is totally in control.  What a blessing to know he even provides for the needs of an small baby in her time of need.
