I'm....so.....bored

So I'm stuck at school waiting for someone to get me, and I thought I might just write a little bit and answer the question, "what have you been doing lately, cassie?" Well, I have been studying for finals. I just got the math one over with, so that's a releif. I also just turned in my persuasive research paper on the Patriot Act. That's a big load taken off my sholders, and all that's left is the German final. It shouldn't be too hard. And then I have Christmas break! YAY! *dances around the room for joy* And on Thursday I get to go to the dentist to get clean shiny teeth! And...I get to catch up on much-needed sleep. I'm the type of person who NEEDS her sleep.

So...I'm going to find something else to do on the internet now, since that's the only thing interesting around here. I just hope I don't get in trouble for using these computers for a non-acedemic purpose. What the heck. My parents paid the technology fees, so I'll do what I want.

Bye!

Enter, Christmas Season!!!

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over, nobody will be mad that I put my Christmas music on my blog now, right? Just scroll to the bottom of this page if you want to listen to it. My very favorite Christmas song at the moment is "We Need A Little Christmas". These are the lyrics:

Haul out the holly,
Put up the tree before
My spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking,
I may be rushing things,
But deck the halls again now.

For we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet,
Yes, we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute,
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry.

So climb down the chimney,
Turn on the brightest string
Of lights I've ever seen,
Slice up the fruitcake,
It's time we hung some tinsel
On that evergreen bough.

For we need a little music,
Need a little laughter,
Need a little singing,
Ringing through the rafter,
And a little snappy
Happy ever after,
Need a little Christmas now.

For I've grown a little leaner,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder,
Need a little Christmas now.

Better start thinking about wish lists and presents now! But most importantly...the greatest gift of all who was Jesus Christ. God coming to us in human form to set us free from our sin was the greatest thing that could ever be done for you and me, and I am eternally thankful for that.

Doesn't Christmas make you so happy? I'll post later!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I was thinking of sending everyone an ecard, but I never got around to it. So those of you on my mailing list get to see this one! http://www.jacquielawson.com/viewcard.asp?code=HY27482779

Now you can test your knowledge of turkeys with this little quiz: http://home.aristotle.net/thanksgiving/trivia.asp
It's harder than you'd think!

*gobble gobble* (That's the turkey laughing at you).

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and don't forget about the thankful part! God has done so much for us and we are so blessed!

The Bad News: today starts yet another week of school.
The Good News: only two weeks until the quarter's over!

The Bad News: that means finals are coming up. More studying to do!!
The Good News: after that it's Christmas!

The Bad News: Jill's pumpkin rotted. =(
The Good News: my dad put up the Christmas lights!

The Bad News: it won't stop raining
The Good News: maybe the rain will turn into snow!

The Bad News: Paige crushed her finger in a door
The Good News: it's not broken

The Bad News: I can't find my camera

The Good News: there's still one left

The  Bad News: our chickens stopped laying eggs

October 31st, 2009

Today I was listening to Christmas music on the radio and it really made me look forward to Christmas. Why are they playing Christmas music so early, you ask? There is this particular station that is playing it for only one day today as their "Santa costume". "Turning something naughty into something nice". Kinda weird, but I still like the songs!! It got me thinking about getting presents for my family members. hmmmm....

Yesterday was our family Oktober Fest at Oma and Opa's house. As always, there was yummy sausage, saurekraut, and applesauce to eat. I also helped make the pretzels. After dinner we played autumn Bingo, Chinese Checkers, and this new "Would you rather...?" game. Just the cards by themselves are fun. They give you two choices and you have to pick which you would rather have/do. Some of them are really weird like, "Would you rather have your thumbs twice as long as it is now or have your second toes be twice as long?". After you pick you give your reason why. It's pretty hilarious. Right before we all left, Opa tried to teach us to sing the Schnitzelbank song, but didn't work too well. I did learn how to say "manure pile" in German, though. =D (Haufen Mist).

This is what it should have sounded like:

But instead it was more like this: (don't watch it all the way if you don't want to)

note- neither of these are my videos. I just pulled them off of youtube.

Tonight we're going to a Harvest Festival at Manchester Community Church with the Blossey's. It's just going to be a little carnival thing where people set up booths for little kids to win candy. I'm going to run a quiz booth with my mom using brainquest cards. It shouldn't be too hard. I just can't decide if I should dress up or not. I have this great medieval costume left from a unit celebration last year, but since no one else in my family is going to wear anything special I probably won't wear it. =(

I really wish we could be doing our annual treasure hunt at home, but we're doing this instead. The reason we never go trick-or-treating is because Halloween has really strong connections to pagan ceremonies. Halloween was the day the Celts believed spirits roamed the earth, causing trouble and damaging crops. To appease them and get prophecies about the future, the druid built bonfires and made sacrifices to the Celtic gods. And yes, I know that Halloween isn't like that anymore, it's just a cute holiday where kids get to dress up and eat candy and people get to decorate their yards with skeletons and spiders and witches, that's all. It's just a harmless holiday. (Not). I just think it's really creepy how death is celebrated so widely in America today. Well, now you know why we don't go trick-or-treating.

Okay, I got kind of carried away there and it's almost time to leave! Talk later-

Days go by

Just a quick post before I leave today. Guten Morgen! School went pretty well this week, and tomorrow is the weekend!!!!!!! (And the last day of soccer!!!) I just thought of something. I'm not technically homeschooled anymore. I'm a college student....but that doesn't mean I can't have a blog, does it? Probably not. Yesterday the younger kids in our homeschool group came over while the older kids did their discussion somewhere else. Mom taught them some Indian sign language and I taught them about horse colorings. That was actually pretty fun. So yesterday I turned in my first essay for English class. I wrote about when I went to the water slides at Lake Chelan when I was four. Since I can't remember every detail from so far back, I kind of had to make up parts of my narrative. But I think I did a pretty good job of it, if I do say so myself. Maybe I can post it on the story blog for you to enjoy. Today the things are due today are an article review for Math. I stayed up last night until 11:30 trying to finish it. Some of the questions on there were really vague, so I had to make that up, too. I tried to make it as professional sounding as I could. =D I really hope I don't fall asleep in class today. In German class there's going to be a pre-test. the other day the professor handed out some little cartoons in German that were 100 years old or so, but were surprisingly violent. One was about this little boy whose mother told him that if he sucked his thumb the tailor would come a cut them off. And he did. It was kind of creepy. Oops, I just realized I'm typing on the mac. It always squishes my sentences together. I'll fix it later. Gotta run now. I'll post later. Cassie

Ho-hum

After two weeks of school it is becoming harder and harder to get out of bed each morning. I appreciate my weekends more, but there really isn't a different if I still have to get up for soccer games and for church. At least soccer ends soon...I think the last game is next week. (The infamous senior/coach game, which of course the seniors never win).

The problem is, when I get home from school I just want to sit around and unwind, even though I have homework. And I know it's important to stay on top of it, it's just really hard for me to be motivated and actually do it! The worst is the Math because there is so much to learn and practice. It is my least favorite subject by far.

My mind has been so preoccupied lately that I didn't even realize it was October! Fall is definitely here, which doesn't mean much to me except the pretty colors will only be replaced shortly by a long, ugly, Washington winter. *sigh*. I am already counting the days to winter break.

One more thing about October being here is this: The pumpkin patch at creek house farm will be opening! So go to their website! Now!
www.creekhousefarm.com

I just hope there are a few pumpkins leftover for you. For their first year I think the Blossey's are doing very well and have exceeded expectations!

I leave you now to get back to my ho-hum life and maybe force myself to do homework.

First Day of School

Yesterday was my first day of school, and my first day of college!

I think the biggest challenge is just getting used to the campus setting, especially since I haven't even been to a regular school since 1st grade! The worst part is having nothing to do in between breaks. I don't have much homework since it's the first week. Today I just read a book in the library between classes while Jenny attempted to use the weights in the gym.

The classes I'm taking this quarter are Pre-Calculus, German, and English. The German class doesn't actually start until Friday because our instructor is in Germany. (haha) So everyday for a little while there will be this big gap of time I have to kill between Calculus in the morning and English in the afternoon. Perfect.

That's pretty much all I have to report. Tomorrow there's a welcome back BBQ/luau in the student center, so I wonder what that will be like. I'll write later!
