Book Review: Keeping Holiday by Starr Meade

Keeping Holiday

I recently received Keeping Holiday by Starr Meade to read and review  for Crossway Books. www.crossway.org/blog

I'm not sure I would have found this book on my own and feel so blessed to have the opportunity to share about it with you.

The town of Holiday is a magical place for young Dylan.  It's rich in beauty, aroma and excitement that he wishes he could wrap into one really excellent souvenir and keep for always.  Nothing could beat the joy of Holiday, until Dylan learns that his beloved vacation spot is really nothing more than a Visitor's center for the real Holiday.  Given only a temporary pass to the real deal, Dylan and his cousin Clare begin an adventure to seek the founder of this fabulous city so that they can gain permanent access to enter Holiday before their time is up.

Starr Meade writes a wonderful allegory of faith and the search for God through this beautiful and well-written holiday story.  Curl up under a blanket and pull your little ones close to read this wonderful story together.

It will be a tradition in my home for years to come.

The cost is only $14.99 and worth every cent.

This book can be found  at:

Be sure to check it out this Christmas!

And for a little fun, my daughter and I made pictures from our reading.  Here is Chloe's drawing of the Stars:

and my drawing of the temptation that could have kept him from ever knowing the founder:

We pray that you have met the founder and that you will share this great resource with others who may not have, that they too may gain access to Holiday.  We wish you a Merry Christmas and an Eternal Holiday.  Keep it always.

About Me

If you can name all of the characters on Sesame Street, name all of the Jonas Brothers, and can read text faster than most teenagers we have something in common. If you teach a child with speech problems, Sensory Processing Disorder, or a teenager who needs a little extra tlc then you are not alone. I'm wadeing through the new and sometimes wild waters of homeschooling. I'll be honest, sometimes I feel like I'm just treading water. It's gonna be worth it though. I'll be a happy and willing tool in their learning and the world will be blessed by what they become. Welcome to my journal. These are just the ideas, thoughts and feelings of a very tired homeschooler.
