Woohoo! Free Stuff! (Or, My Shopping Trip at WalMart)

Tonight I took the baby grocery shopping with me.  DS 10 spent the night at Nana's and DH was at work.  He's on night shift.  I decided to return the Seal-A-Meal to Wal-Mart and do some shopping while I was there.

I used the refund money to purchase some stuff we were needing.  You know, stuff you eventually have to buy but sometimes forget that you need, like new socks.  And underwear.  (The ten year old would be mortified to know I was talking to you all about buying him underwear!  So I'll spare him.  You get the idea. :)  After shopping for "stuff" I decided to get some groceries and pick up some free items.

Using a $1 off coupon I picked up a free can of Chef Boyardee ravioli.  Using a $3 off coupon I picked up a free Colgate toothbrush and a free tube of Colgate toothpaste.  Free stuff!  Alright!

I also hit the food clearance rack at the back of the store.  I found a box of Quaker granola bars marked down from $2.88 to $2.00.  I remembered I had a $1 off coupon, so I got the box for $1.00.  These were the fancy granola bars in the black box. :)  Finally, I picked up a 23 ounce box of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes for $2.00.  No coupon for that one.  So, those were not free but good enough not to pass up.

On my way to Wal-mart, I went to Goodwill.  I had $40 of birthday money from my MIL.  I decided to take myself shopping.  I haven't bought myself any new clothes in awhile.  Thankfully my clothes fit after the baby was born, I only gained 20 pounds.  But that's all I was supposed to gain, since I'm a big girl to begin with.  But my wardrobe still needed spruced up a little.

I had some really cute maternity outfits.  Most of it had been given to me, for which I was very thankful.  I also snagged a few items during clearance sales at JC Penney or at Goodwill.  I even bought some skirts at the Lane Bryant Woman website, which is no more.  Finding plus size maternity can be challenging, but not impossible.  You kind of have to think outside the box.  Most of my outfits were just a few sizes larger than my prepregnant size and were not really maternity at all.  It also helped that the empire waisted and baby doll tops were in style too.  You know, all those things that you avoid wearing when you are not pregnant, because they make you look like you are!!! :)

Oh, my, how did I get off on that tangent?!  I was talking about my happy birthday shopping spree!

At Goodwill I bought:

3 skirts

1 really nice charcoal gray blazer

5 blouses

1 pair brown suede pumps

2 pairs jeans for DS 10

and a blender because I'm going to make baby food for Dear Baby when he's ready for that in a few months.

My grand total?  $41.00!  And everything fit me except for one skirt.  So I did really well.

And in case you are wondering, the extra dollar came out of my weekly food budget! :)

I'm going to JayC which is a Kroger chain store tomorrow.  They are having a Saturday only sale on some things.  If it's worth passing on, I'll let you know. :)
