Good Morning!

I am PRAISING GOD this morning!! Just wanted to let you know that I found what I was looking for!! God is WONDERFUL and ALWAYS right on time! I am still watching my nephew ,but this morning I went and picked him up @9:00am I just couldnt deal with 5:00am. We'll see how it goes the rest of the week. I will update later ,we got to get started schooling.

Gracious is all I can say. My sister and her husband were having problems so I agreed to watch my nephew for her while she went back to work.(I honestly did not think it would be the very next week) . I knew it would be hard but thought it would be great for him. He is 3. Well, my sister has to be at work at 5:30am (yes you heard me correctly). She called this morning @ 4:58am. He DID NOT go back to sleep. Well, of course ds and him fuss on and off all day. Well more of ds then anything. So, she is suppose to get off work at 1:30pm well.... she calls @ 12:00 and says she won't get off until 3:00pm... Oh goodness....Well, she finally gets here and she wont be getting off until 3:00 EVERYDAY! I just don't know if I can do it. We still haven't done school yet, I am just wore out . FRAZZLED! I am going to give it a week or so and see how it goes and then decided . I have never got up that early for ANYTHING. DS was a SUPER baby. Slept all night from birth.

Also, I have lost something that is VERY important.Please pray that I find this item.

Hi

I really can't believe that it is Thursday already. HS has went nicely all week. My sister dod come over again on Monday and we had a rocky start but not really all that bad.We even watched my nephew yesterday and still got all out HS done. My sister has been coming by in the evenings and DS has been able to play outside with my niece.They are really getting close.Like brother and sister.It seems like the lessons are going REALLY fast, but he seems to be getting everything. I guess that is a bonus when you are 1 on 1 with a child.

DS 10th birthday is next week and we are taking that day off. He didn;t wan't a party ,but he is getting a really "big" gift but we are having a few friends over for the weekend.

The weather has been so nice here. Not really "HOT" at all and there has been a really nice breeze. I LOVE fall I think it is my favorite time of year. The colors are so Pretty , there is just something about that time of year. I almost had to go ahead a buy a pumpkin last weekend but I didn't . We really need some rain though really bad. EVERYTHING is so dry.

Hey!

Well, Last week was a challange to say the least. With one of our darling dog passing away last Sunday night and then my dad having a wreck on Wednesday,it was hard. I hadn't looked over the school lessone for Tuesday so I had no clue what I was talking ablout.Our "routine" had been inturupted by my sister and nephew. DS is the kind of child that you have to keep on a regular schdule if you don't then you might as well not even try to "start" .

We didn't do anything on Wednesday but I was VERY impressed that we got caught up by Friday. I have NO clue how that happened.

My niece came and spent Friday night with us and wen't home Saturay night. Since we have to go look at new cars today. I couldn'timagine taking DN and DS with us. OH MY....

My dad and DS are gone this AM . They like to go hang out. My dad is doing better. His burn is healing great. The car was totaled and it was only 4 months old. I am worried about my dad and driving back and forth 1 hour one way.

I am in the process of joining a new Church. I have been going to a Reformed Baptist Church for about 4 months and I LOVE the Preacher and the way that things are run there. To join this Church you have to take a Membership Matters Class ,fill out an application , go for a interview and then be presented to the Church for them to vote on you. I wan't to be at a Bibically correct Church ,but... I am confused on what to do . They are very strict about attendance and they practice Church discipline. What do I do? I wan't to do what the Lord wan'ts me to ,not what I wan't to do. I have learned so much since I have been going ,but there are many things that I have questions about. Please Pray for me and this situation.

Goodnees! It has been a WEEK and wait..it's not over yet

On Sunday night our beloved dog(Bon-Bon) of almost 7 year passed away suddenly . We believe that she had a tumor. She had went to live with my sister about 1 month ago. We were blessed that my son or my niece did not see it. They were both with me. Bonnie touched all of our lives.She was the "Diva" in a family of 3 male dogs. They knew not to mess with her. She will be greatly missed.

Well, yesterday my dad was on his way to work and had a wreck. He didn't see the car infront of him stop and ran into the back of it and then that car hit another car. No one has to go tot the hospital. The air bag burnt my dads arm pretty bad and he has been saying that his chest hurts from where the seat belt would tightned. We are pretty sure that the car was totaled(sp). But we are SOOOOO blessed that no one was hurt or even had to go tot the hospital. My mom was about to have a nervous breakdown when he called though. He didn't even want to talk to her ,He asked to speak to me. He knew that she would get upset. I called my sister (which my mom was trying to do ) and she came on to my house and we went down to get him. Of course my mom had to go ,she doesn't drive due to glucoma(sp).It took us oh ...25 minutes of a 45minute drive(he drives 1hour to work).I was Praying the whole time that we would make it there. I knew I should have drove. LOL... Seriously though you here all the time about people having wrecks on there way to a wreck of a loved one. But we made it.

So, I know it seems like alot has happened this week but we have been Blessed so much in so many ways. These are just a few examples:

~The kids did not see Bon-Bon pass

~My dad was able to get his insulin before work yesterday

~God provided gas money

~No one was hurt in the wreck

~My dads ticket was reduced from $150.00 to $75.00 because he didn't try to say that the girl didn't have break lights. He told the truth and said he just didn't see them in time.

~ I am in a swap group and I got the sweetiest package in the mail Tuesday.

~We have already got the rental car.

These are just a few. There are MANY MANY more.

You know how I said last week was great with school and that I really like S.O.S. Well, I think I am going to have to go back to school my self. WOW! This is tuff stuff. I mean serisouly .Preston was in public schools and believe me they did not have ANYTHING like this.Which I like and I know that in the end he is going to be one smart kid and I am going to be one smart mom also...... LOL

Yes! We made it through our very 1st week!! I am VERY proud of my son.

I have found several things that I like and I dislike but the "likes" out weighs the "dislike" . The science is a bit hard but Preston loves it and he needs to be challanged.One of the great things about HS is that you can tweeke it .Unlike PS you can't go and tell the teacher the this is to hard or not hard enough and her just change it. She has to help not only your child but 21 other kids also. I am looking for a reading program now. There is alot of reading in this but I want a book with questions to go along with it. I have found a TON of stuff online that goes along with some books that we have.So, that is probably what I will use. Prestons reading level is 7th grade now so I think it is important to keep him reading even though his does not like it at all.

I have decided that we are not going to take as long as the PS system takes for breaks. There is really no need If we are at home and he can do it then why not. This may become a challange because my neice goes to PS and she comes over when she is out of school and then he will not understand why he has to do his work and she gets to play.

Well, I have to go and check on them (DS and neice) .I hope that you all have a WONDERFUL Labor Day weekend.

We have started. Yesterday was diffcult but we made it and today started off ruff but was GREAT! I have just got to get him into a routine of waking up at a certain time,eating breakfast,doing school etc.... I would love to hear how some of you "start" your day or your routine.

I really like the  curriculum. I can really tell that he has learned a TON  just in 2 days. It is so much better the PS . He is one on one with me and I can make sure that he understands it before we move on. I really enjoy it and he told me today that he also enjoy's it. YEAH!!! We will be doing our "P.E." with a friend and on our own and with Art I know that we will be going to a program in October that will be fun. I have a bunch of craft things that we can do , but I would like to "teach" him art not just do crafts.

The month of September is very busy for us and October seems to be the same. But that is ok. He loves being around other kids and adult conversation for me is great .

I am also looking to start a support group in my area ,I found one but it is still not in my area it is closer than others. I have a close friend (Jeanne)that also wants to start one in our area.So, if you are in Blacksburg or surrounding area then let me know and we can all get together. I have lots of things planned for Jeanne and I this year and we would love to have you along. I have learned the hard way that support is key in homeschooling other wise you feel like a "fish out of water".Jeanne and I both had our boy's in PS so we know exactly how that feels.

I am so happy that I found this site. A little about me and our adventure in Homeschooling....I am a single mom to a wonderful son who is soon to be 10.

My name is Kellianne and my sons name is Preston.We go to a WONDERFUL Reformed Baptist Church and We seek to glorify God in everything that we do.

We are using Switched On Schoolhouse this year and I know that we are going to love it. If you have used it or you are using it then let me know how you like it.

Well, I will add lots more later.Just wanted to give ou a little info to begin with.
