Convicted to Complete

May. 10, 2006

Let's read...

Spring is definitely sprung, and it is less than three weeks away from the unofficial beginning of summer.  Most of us are probably somewhere near the end of our school year.  So I'd like to continue with more summer reading suggestions, and these are for the whole family.  They are:  Tales of the Kingdom, Tales of the Resistance, and Tales of the Restoration written by David and Karen Mains.  With the resurgence of Narnia, fantasy alagories have found new fans, yound and old.  Lamplighter Publishers has put out these sure favorites.

May. 13, 2006 - Loved those books!

I am glad to hear that Lamplighter has reprinted those books. They were such a blessing to me when I was a teen. I love the idea of the Grannies being the warriors. It is probably why I have always loved the show "Alias" ~ I love to think of us as undercover warriors for God that have been given the weapons of prayer and the Word. Okay...I am rambling :) Just loved your new post too ~ how awesome to see God at work in your kids.

Jul. 2, 2006 - Tales of the Kingdom

Has anyone ever had a child have nightmares after reading this book? I absolutely love these books, but I just had a situation where my 9 yr old goddaughter may have gotten nightmares after I read her the first couple of stories in this book. It could be that due to her life situation my timing was just unfortunate, or it could be that she's being less than honest with me and her mother about the nightmares. But I'm wondering whether anyone else has had this experience.

Jul. 3, 2006 - Depends on the child...

I think what triggers something in one child, doesn't in another. The stories are vivid, but like all stories that are make-believe, it is important to remind them that it is not real. Being sensitive to the child is still important and maybe putting the books up for a year or two.
