Convicted to Complete

Starting something new...

Do you dread it or does it give you a thrill?

For me I think it depends on what it is.  New exercise program...total complete dread...not to mention pain.  New chocolate...bring it on!

How about a new curriculum?

I knew that I was needing to step it up when it came to having my kids write, ok I'll be honest, I needed to simply start!  I like writing, but teaching it, uuggghhh!  I'd looked into many things over my previous seven years of homeschooling.  I was convinced that using IEW would be great, but I had been considering the cost.  Well, while reading on  a homeschooling board I visit, a mom mentioned CQLA.  I had never heard of it.

Off to the computer I went and started checking out their products and site.  Training for Triumph is a family owned and operated business with the kindest people.  Their Character Quality Language Arts program (CQLA) is the program we are using for the first time this year.  It is a compilation of the best products out there:  Easy Grammar, Editor In Chief, Spelling Power, IEW, and such all rolled into one!

It will probably take us a few weeks to get used to and more familiar and comfortable with our new program, but I as well as the kids are excited about the change.  Since I had been using several different things to cover Language Arts, it is refreshingly pleasant to just be using one source.

So how about you?  Are you using something new for the year?

i think we are going to do a distance learning program (thru Christian Liberty - CLASS) for ryann this year since she is starting 9th grade. it will put together the transcripts for her etc. i did that with coie and it seemed to get the high school years off to a good start.

so far i've been off to a very sloooooow start. this month just snuck up on me

We are going to use Artistic Pursuits this year. We've never done a "formal" art curriculum before, so I'm excited about adding one this year. Looks like it will be fun.
