American History has so many facets, simply because historians and
regular citizens have documented everything from regular life to
international affairs. One of these important pieces is the independent
documentary film. The Sundance Film Festival celebrates independent
film and is an important part of modern day filmmaking history.
However, what about those films that celebrate the American people? The founders of Folkstreams
saw a need to preserve this part of American heritage. They are
building a national preserve of documentary films about American folk
or roots culture. Each film is produced by an independent filmmaker,
