Summer and School

Posted in School

Who said this would be easy? I have had the hardest time keeping my children focused with their work so I have tried to make it bareable by having them do timed sheets just to have them remember where they are.  Please if ayone has some strong advice I would love to hear it.  Help!!!

Sorry, I don't have any advice for you on this one. We pretty much take the summer off. Some math, art and music is all we do. Good luck.

Summer school

Posted by crossroadsmama

Have you tried a reduced schedule?: I have a chart (listen to me--as if this works!?!?) that I made with 6 blocks for Bible, 5 blocks for reading, 3 blocks for math and 2 blocks for each science and social studies. Other than Bible, the kids can decide what days to do thier work and when. This way it doesn't interfere with the important stuff like playing outside!!!

The key here is to stay on top of them..."Did you read for 20 minutes today? Well..you need to do that before (lunch or playing with neighbor)." We do Bible and Social Studies together and just agree on a down time to do it. Evenings when dad is home works best.

Checkin in to say Hello

I am so sorry about your mom. How is she today? Summertime is so hard to keep the kids focused. Maybe you can add in some educational games...or come up with ways to review that would be like a game.

My washer broke last year, I had to wait for the income tax and go to the laundry mat for a couple of months...everyone complained but me...because for the first time...all my laundry was done on the same day...LOL. I acutually didn't mind that at all...I am glad that you have been blessed with family that will allow you to use their washer. The Lord will supply all your needs...in His time.

The pool sounds fun...I am sure the kids are enjoying it.

Blessings to you!
