A Homeschooling Beginning
"I homeschool" she said.
"What exactly is that?" I replied.
That is how this journey all began. I went home and googled homeschooling and Christian Homeschooling and began to read like crazy... that was in 1999.
I homeschooled my now 13 year old for half a school year in 3rd grade then put him back in b/c I really didn't have a clue and my friend wasn't any help . At the time I felt he wasn't learning what he should be(he already had an IEP at this time and no phonetic foundation that was my focus for him) and I didn't want to damage him any further and I didn't have a support group or knew anyone who was hsing, I was literally stuck adn insecure.
Here I am five years later and began hsing my 8 and 6 yr. old this year full time(6 year old only did preschool in public setting).I love it and it's not that I have all the answers, I struggle still with frustration and financial issues but I press on. The main and most important reason I continue is, I prayed for 4 years "Lord are you sure you want me to hs these boys I'm not sure I can ?" and confirmation after confirmation(FREE MATERIAL
) came that this is what the Lord required for his future use. He is with me every step of the way ,good and bad days.
I think now if I had not read (learning styles)so much I would be so under pressure and the more I read and prayed the more confident I became. I want to do what is best for my children and I know that in this world today where kids can be pushed down, bullied, abused and tormented by kids their own age, I know I'm doing the right thing.
I love the fact that as I lean on Him in my insecurity and I search Him for answers and support I am shown websites like this one where I have found such great encouagement, tips, and great resources by such great woman of God I am truly blessed and that is why my cup continues to run over.
I hope anyone who is new like I am knows, your doing the right thing, just keep looking up and pressin on. I am learning everyday with my children and I love it.

Isn't it amazing how the Lord works! I still feel like I'm in over my head some days. I think every homeschooler feels that way sometimes. I'm sure you are doing a great job teaching your kids.

As much as I love watching them learn, I also love that I learn just as much!
Blessings,
