Just Thinking
Well it's Monday again it's not my favorite day of the week.
Anyways, I am trying to get ready for my sons graduation party, I feel overwhelmed. I am not a party planner at all. I would be best planning someone else's party than my own. (Money is a factor.)
We are grilling and sides with a cake. My sister is a big "what to do" person she makes me feel like I'm not doing enough or doing the right thing. I get a little under pressure making sure I don't do things to please people and do what is best for my son and our family.
DS will have a good time b/c food is involved and he likes to eat and of course I have to make ugly salad, that is his favorite
.
I am making a to do list so that I can get it all done....Pray for me.

My sister is the same way. Birthdays have never been a big deal for me. But not for her!!! LOL!!! She has to be the "Queen" all day or else. Do you know how to decorate a cake? It is really easy...and you can make the cake with a $1.00 cake mix and frosting will cost you maybe $3.00. I wish I lived closer or I would come by and teach you. You could start a cake decorating business out of your home. I don't usually make cake mix cakes but I have in the past for my family. Sending prayers you!

Your party will go great. Don't let your sister bug you. I have a family member who also lets me know what I do that is wrong. I just smile and remove myself for a little bit and return. Remember: it is your son and your home. Good luck!

You are not alone. I am a party pooper maybe, but not a planner. My mother never did teach me the art of entertaining, not even is smalls ways. Another words, it takes me twice the effort compared to those who know about such things.
Hope it went well!

Something in common

Hello, my new friend!
I'm not the party person, either, so I feel you on the planning end. After my sister's retirement on last week, she brought friends and family, about 12-15 in all, to our hotel suite. The noise, the inability to participate in one conversation (vs. bouncing around to everyone), plus balancing the kids with the adults nearly drove me crazy! My sisters, more party-oriented, always make me feel bad, too, but I've grown comfortable in my own introverted skin over the years.
He's a handsome fellow, though, and I'm sure he and everyone else enjoyed the celebration. Was he homeschooled? God bless.

I find that the best parties are the ones with the least planned. I love planning parties and would be more than glad to help ... even on a budget!! I have been known to throw a party for 20 on under $50 and no one ever knew! There is a trick to it.
For things to do, make sure you have music in the background that the guest of honor is sure to enjoy. Loud enough to be heard but soft enough for conversation. Open up the house ... let everything be available for free play. Same with the yard. If the party slows down, have something prepared that is sure to bring out the giggles.
One of the biggest hits around here has been charades with partners. 2 people together have to act out whatever. BUT! they are blind folded. So they can't see what the other is doing, Let them make a plan first and then let them have at it. ITS HILARIOUS!! Rarely does anyone figure out what it was but it sure is fun trying!!
