Thursday:
We took advantage of the Lego Robotics class that was being offered at an area elementary school...Tommie took his first class on Thursday. He absolutley loved it! I am kind of proud of him...he walked into the school, not knowing anyone, sitting down and worked with a partner, who he really meshed with, and team-built a lego merry-go-round...next he'll program it into a computer, somehow? He really likes his instructor, too...which is wonderful, since this program has a smorgasborg of classes, suited to Tommie's personality...
I spent an hour and a half shuffeling thru the snow and slush, running errands.
Spending even 30 seconds at a public school gives me the heebie jeebies...all I saw were rowdy loud kids who scream when they talk (they're 10 years old!), running-pushing and shoving, I saw a lot of kids wired from junk food and I swear I could see germs everywhere! The school floor was cold and dirty. I saw a lot of kids arguing..I'm sure they were just tired...and I saw a lot of teachers screaming overtop of their kids, because, the kids all scream when they talk....obviously, they all must of missed the "use your inside voice"...day at preschool when they were 4 and their parents "enrolled them". Seriously, is this the socialization thing, the how-will-he-ever-function-in-life thing, that so many people tell me Tommie is missing? I've come to the conclusion, that, forced socialization-is not positive socialization. Just my opinion. |
