Oct. 4, 2008 - Pictures from Louisiana After Gustav and Ike
I LIVE!!! ….
Ok, that was somewhat dramatic, but I wanted to get the point across. I have not posted anything in …geez, I don’t know when. I have plenty to catch up on.
Where have I been? Oh! I went to
Therefore,

Explanation: You know the smell of when you pull up your swimming pool at the end of summer and the smell of the rotten, wet, covered up ground rises up to your nostrils? Well, that smell was everywhere.

My brother,
Celeste and Ryan’s house had part of their roof blown away and their ceiling caved in, leaving a mess. Jordan and I helped Celeste clean up her utility room and got everything out that was wet.
My grandpa had lots of tree and roof damage. But some of our Mennonite friends got that all cleaned up for him. But it was sad to see all those beautiful trees destroyed.

While we were down there, we stayed with my Aunt Nat, Uncle Carry and Gage. They were so nice to let us stay with them. Aunt Nat has a beautiful, spacious home and made us feel very welcome. (love you guys)
They had some roof damage from a tornado that past through.

The rest of this entry, I’ll leave for pictures…as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words….well, I have many pictures…

Love always,
Sarah

Aug. 1, 2008 - Birthday pictures....LOTS of them~ part 2
Hey ya'll!
OK, I'll just pick up where
I left off in my last entry. In the last two pictures, we were on our way into town for my birthday lunch. I, of course, wanted to go eat Chinese. I only get it about once
a year (for my birthday where I get to choose where we eat) cause nobody in my family really likes it besides me. So I was very pleased when we all sat down to my favorite meal.
And here is Anna showing us
the "proper" way to eat with chopsticks. Haha! The food was sooooo good! I
majorly stuffed myself with lots of food. How funny is it that everything on my plate is just chicken?! I don't really like the noodles or soups, I just like Chinese chicken.
Yum!
Spending my birthday with my friends was so wonderful.
We made some wonderful memories that I'm sure we'll never forget.
We were so blessed that Heather and Mrs. Linda were able to come and spend that time with us.
After eating, I convinced mom that we "had" to go to the Mall.
That was sooo fun! We don't go to the Mall much, so when we do go we make it worth our while and have some fun. We went into
my favorite shop called Romancing the Stone. (yeah, weird name) but they all sorts of neat stuff in their. We saw some masks that just HAD to try on. The first one is me and Anna, and the second one is me
and Heather. Ha ha! Bet you didn't know that!! ^_^ Looks like something Lucy and Ethel would do.
Then Jordan and Anna
decided to "dress up" the birthday girl. Don't I look charming?! 0_0 Personally, I don't think the look really works for me.
Then Anna decided to add a few
"accessories" also. Ha ha!
These were
really neat. I seriously wanted to take a few home. I love paper lanterns.
And then, of all things, we line danced. Yeah, in the mall. We thought the music was a good beat for it and there was plenty of room, so we kicked off our shoes.
But once we started the music wasn't such a good beat for a line dance...it was more like a tango...and we earned a few looks from people passing by, well, it just didn't work out. ^_^
We went into Tuesday Morning and saw a
bear...not just any bear. An adorable, white, huge,
soft bear. We were quite captivated with the cute fella. We found out after we had taken these pictures
that he was $100!
But we still wanted to take him home with us.
So, we had plenty of fun, returned home tired. It was a day full of laughs, but there was a few tears in there as well. That morning as I was reading my mom's entry she wrote on me, I couldn't help but shed a few. it was my first birthday without my Dad. Dad never missed our birthday's. He always made sure he was here to celebrate with us. But mom made sure to give me my birthday kiss from him.
Luv always,
~ Sarah
Jul. 25, 2008 - Birthday pictures....LOTS of them~ part 1
Hey Ya'll,
You guys are sooo awesome. Thank ya'll for the blog-parties! I really enjoyed reading them! Thank you, thank you!!!
Ok, birthday update....Well, first off, one of my best friends, Heather, and her mom, Mrs. Linda came down from Laramie, Wyoming to visit and spend my birthday with me. I also invited one of my other best friends, Anna over and she spent two nights with us. Such fun.
Jordan made me a birthday cake. (that she ate almost entirely by herself) Twas quite
tasty. Then is was present time!!! (my favorite) Everyone was waiting in the frontroom for me to come out of hiding. But I was making myself presentable to be in front of a camera....I don't think I succeeded.
So, I sat in the traditional manner that we always do before opening presents to get them all in the
picture. (*notice* big brown box besides me does not house Ted Dekker like I once believed) But it did hold something that I have wanted for two years! Celeste and Ryan got me a guitar!!! *screeches* It is absolutely gorgeous! And it's the exact color I wanted. And it has a wonderful
sound.
Celeste and Ryan also got me a Ted Dekker "forest
dweller circle necklace", (yay!) And they got me charms and beads and stones to make jewelry. Very nice.
Then, dear friend Heather made a fantastic scrapbook. It has
clips of our IMs and jokes that we had to explain to everyone, like "cowboys herding roaches", "planing weddings", "the kidnapping of a certain author". You know, the usual secrets of Sisterchicks. lol! She also gave me the cutest little friendship locket in the shape of a heart. On it, it has a little hummingbird. Inside it has a picture of her and she has one just like it and inside there is a picture of me. I loved it. And a Sisterchicks book that I had lots of fun reading.
Dear friend Anna gave me the perfect gift of a picture of me
and her that was taken at the concert that we were just in a few weeks ago. On the frame it has "Fiddling Partners". She also gave me a pretty journal that I'm going to have to start a new story in. ^_^
And she gave me two packs of gum. (yummy)
Our pastor's wife, Sis. Danna made me the cutest coasters in the shape of a camera with film and she
gave me a set of books. She knows how much we love to read. So I really
enjoyed opening her gift!
Then, Dear friend, Mrs. Cathy and Mrs. Claress made me some of the most adorable-est aprons I've ever seen! I now wear them all the time. And I haven't really been cooking or baking, I just
like to wear them around the house while I'm doing my chores and such. One of the aprons is in a strawberry print that is just sooo cute and has the sweetest pockets on earth.
Here is Heather and Me.
Here is Heather, Me and Anna.
Well, that's all the time I have for now. But I got more pictures, so once again, there will have to be a part two.
Luv always,
~Sarah
Jul. 16, 2008 - Happy 18th Birthday, Sarah!
Welcome to Sarah's 18th birthday party, let me introduce myself, I am your host, Celeste. This is by invitation only but just in case you forgot yours, here is one so you can join in on the fun!!
This day is just full of surprises so I hope you are ready for them. First, we are all getting on a private plane to meet up with the rest of the group. Hope no one gets air sick!!! What? Oh, where are we going?
We are going to a place that Sarah has always wanted to go, can anybody guess where? That's right, PARIS!!! The land of French bread, berets, and pastries, but whatever you do, do not drink the water!! (Or is that only in Mexico?)
We have arrived at our destination. Let's go in and see what is planned.

First, we need to get you dressed for the party.
Here is your mask and jewelry.

After all that traveling, I'm sure you must be hungry, lets go into the dinning room for something to eat.
Do you want your cake now? Yes? Alright! We can do presents after we are done then.
Are you ready for your presents before the entertainment begins? Woo-hoo, alright! As you can see, we all know your favorite color is purple so all your guests pitched in and got you a purple guitar and laptop!!! Hope you enjoy them.
This is Eric, he will be your escort for this evening's entertainment.

We will be having a ball in your honor, oh it looks like they started already, care to join them? When you are finished, I shall introduce you to some of your guests.

As you can see, we have some very special people that came to help you celebrate, here is Emily Rossum (she wanted to sing for you).

Over here we have Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire doing a special dance for you!
I'm sure you know who this is, if not, it's Ted Dekker, he is going to read something from one of his books for you.
All of the family really wanted to be there on your birthday, so SURPRISE!!! We are all with you in our thoughts today.

The Dixon's also wanted to be with you on this momentous occasion, so surprise again! Well, I hope you had a wonderful party, I know all of your guests did.
If you hosted a party for Sarah, please sign the Mr. Linky that is below with the exact link to your party! I know she is just dying to go by all of your parties!

Jun. 24, 2008 - Psalm 63:1-8
Psalm 63:1-8
1 Oh God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in
a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your
power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will
glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name
I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
With singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the
watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help, I will sing in the shadow of
your wings.
8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
Luv always,
Sarah
Jun. 10, 2008 - Another day
A time to mourn, a time to cry, and a time weep, grieve, and hurt.
Another day without hearing his voice, without hearing him call me his “Pocahon-ie”. (a.k.a. Pocahontas)
Another day without seeing him squish his nose against the window while pumping gas.
Another day without him fussing that his recliner was hot cause we were sitting in it.
Another day without him teaching me how to drive on the back roads.
Another day without him and me going to the “music house” so he could listen to me play my fiddle.
Another day without that look of pride in his eyes.
Another night of watching the sun go down without him.
Another night without a goodnight kiss.
Another night………another tear falls.
Luv always,
Sarah
Jun. 3, 2008 - Back Home
Hey Ya’ll,
Wow, it has been three weeks and two days since my Dad’s crash. In some ways it feels like years have passed and in others, it feels like it was just yesterday. Some days are really hard and others, I sometimes forget that he is dead. Then I feel horrible for forgetting about him. But we…or I….am much better. Walking through the valley of death is so not easy. God didn’t say that is would be easy, but that he was going to be there with us. God has never left our sides throughout this entire ordeal. I know we wouldn’t of made it without Him.
Well, we got back home to
We’ve been trying to get the house back in order from not being lived in for three weeks. It’s slowly coming along. Almost ready for the company that we are going to be having. (yay!) lol!
Monday morning we went shopping for food. You know, the big, huge shopping trip that comes after being gone for a long while. So, that was fun. I’m not sure what’s going on today, probably more house work and such.
Oh ya’ll! Our garden is absolutely gorgeous! How could that be with us gone?....you might ask. Well, our wonderful church family and neighbors of course. They took care of our yard and garden while we were gone. There is not a single weed in the garden right now. We don’t have any veggies growing just yet, but I’m sure it won’t be long before we are picking green beans, lima bean and tomatoes. ^_^ I’ll try and get some pictures of it soon.
Sarah
