What Your Child Needs to Know When
I have been asked about this book and it is another book we have on our bookshelf and use on a weekly basis. We absolutely love this book as well.It is a great resource for anyone who is just starting off with homeschooling.I love this book, because every time I check it,we find out we are beyond what they need to know when, lololol. So it is very encouraging. This book is a great refernce book.Do not use as your guide but simply as a reference. Not every state has the exact same requirements but it is great to have an idea of what they state does look for, lolol!!!So I wanted to share it and what it looks like. This is a keeper.!Enjoy!!!!

ARCHERY!!!!!
Well our newest homeschool adventure is Archery! That's right we are taking it back to the bow and arrow days.It is so much fun.My 3 oldest have just taken to it wonderfully. That's right you heard me right my 3 oldest and for those of you who don't know what that means. It means even my very very girly daughter who was a former brownie and became a scarlet brownie because she could not tolerate the very sporty girls in her group and choose not to partake with them anymore.Has finally found a sport she really likes and has voluntarily ask to join the homeschool archery club.It is wonderful and she has a wonderful ,patient instructor. His name is Guy and he does great with the kids.He showed her how to stand ,shot, and hold the boe properly. She did great and was able to do what her older brothers were not able to do in the last 2 sessions of Archery but can now do.She POPPED the ballon.Guy puts these medium size ballons up and has the kids try to pop them. They can take as long as 30 min somtimes to pop them. Some of the kids even give up sometimes and go ahead and pop it with the arrow by hand. But she did it on her very first try.You should of seen her.She was so proud of herself ,and I for her as well. She has really taken to it and has ask to continue to do so throughout the Fall. Her dad is excited,he cannot wait to see her do it on the next session. She has just been raving about it ever since as have I.It is great! I am so happy for my girly girl. She has finally found a sport she likes. My boys love it as well. They are just having a blast making friends and meeting people. They are very sporty boys and love to be active. They have always been involved in a sport.Even if dad was the team,LOLOL! So they are very happy with the Archery Club.It was a lil hard to find a group down here, but now that we have it is great. The move to NY still is not final but coming to a close soon.So keep us in prayer as we continue to move forward. We still have a lot of going back and forth but it will soon be done, Baruch Hashem! So Blessings to you all and Shalom!

Just wanted to Share!
Well I hope everyone is having a blessed week. I just wanted to share with everyone some helpful sites I use. This site helped and still helps me with my younger children and getting them excited about homeschooling. The site www.childcareland.com I have even joined this wonderful womans yahoo group because I just think she has some very creative hands on ideas that we as homeschoolers may have tried before when first beginning our road to succesful homeschooling and at times as our households become multiple children households we may overlook those things we first used that actually worked. So she has all these wonderful ideas and printables as well. She also sells them on a disc for you to have and keep on file so that you can come back to it whenever you choose. It is wonderful and low cost. I personally love the file folder games ,my youngest has learned how to cut with scissors wonderfully because of these activities. She loves the idea of being able to complete a "project" like her older siblings. And if she so happen to mess up a lil we can simply reprint the page and have her do it over. Its wonderful. I would like to share another site I have come to love it as well it is www.learningtreasures.com .This site is such a simple site ,yet has some wonderful and helpful ideas and projects that can be used for various subjects. My kids loved the science section of this site. They absolutely loved the homemade bubbles. They had so much fun we had to make the gallon version to share at a family BBQ.They love to do things like that as you can tell with our homemade claydough. And for those of us who love our local homeschool shops in PA check out my favorite store. It is the Homeschool Junction found in the Mount Joy area and well worth the ride in your in PA.The site is www.homeschooljunction.com I love this store. We purchased all of our homeschool curriculum from them last year as well as most of our supplemental material too. They sell both second hand and new items.Although I must say alot of the used stuff is in perfect condition at times. We got all of our Abeka curriculum in tack last year and are going back for more this year. It is much cheaper to purchase the curriculum for us from the Junction then from the publishers. So I hope this helps some homeschooling moms on a budget like me.And I will be sharing more to come as we continue this years homeschool adventure.Blessings and Shalom!

Summer!
Hey everybody! WOW, a Summer already! Can you hear the homeschooled children's laughter already. My kids love the springtime and summer! They have some of the best field trips during that time. They look like bears coming out of hibernation and the fresh sun hitting their faces. They love it.They are here in the city for the summer and been here for 2 weeks now doing all kinds of things. For a wonderful example, one of their daddy's favorite sports as a kid and teen,"handball"! They have begun learning how to play. And are having a ball.It is so muggy down here in comparison to the hot PA air,but we are dealing with it. I can't wait for those thunderstorms on the weekend. We will be babysitting my brothers daughter this weekend while he goes out with his wife.So can you say baby fun! I can't wait.I love lil ones they are great.Anyway moving on to other news.We have decided to plan ahead this year with our summer fun at home.So we will be getting a small dipping pool for the kids to play with on the weekends when dad is home, tons of bbq's and invested in art/crafts items and outside toys, like catch and new jump ropes and these lacrose looking sets for the kids to use.Brand new bikes are also in store for these lucky kids of mine.Their old bikes are outgrown now so we need new ones.So off to the pricing board me and my hubby go.We also decided to give the kids 3 weeks vacation and then we are going to start up our new homeschool year.We will start in PA then make the move down here.We are also trying to make a least 2 trips, one to the crayola factory and another to a theme park this year as well.So we will see.So many things so lil time, huh? Anyway I have already begun looking for our curriculum and since we are not textbook feans and prefer handson activities we are going to look into something with freedon to do that.We really love Abeka Books so we will be using them, but we are still looking for something for Math that would fit us so any suggestions are welcome.Thats all for this blessed mama of 4.Shalom and blessings to all.

I am back in full swing and with new news of family!
Hey everybody, I know it has been a long while since I have been on and all.I do so apologize for that.Well we do have some new news about our family. As many may know we have been back and forth to and from NY and PA for the last 5 months due to some family situations.Well recently me and my husband and decided to just make a new move back to NY.I am very happy living here in PA and have been so for the last 10 years.PA has my heart as well as all of the things we have wanted our kids to be exposed to.But unfortunetely things happen and the father has already begun to open doors for our family in the moving process as well.So with that said, we see a full fledge move back to NY by October of this year.At the moment we are still traveling back and forth but are still in PA officially. So please do keep us in your prayers as the father begins to bring us out of PA and into NY.For me it is a big difference as far as environment goes.I have truly become a suburbanite. So being in the city is going to be different. We are hoping to eventually make a move to a more suburban setting not too long afterwards. So keep that in prayer as well.As for my husband he is looking forward to the new work he will be doing. It is a big difference for him as well. But a much better situation for him.He is really excited and has a whole new spirit about the new work.So it will be good to see him content with the new working environment. We are all looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.The Father has begun to lift my siprit up and help me out ,lately I have been going through a rough patch but he as always has been reeling me into him again. We are all going to see how this works and what else comes from it.I do want to say that the penpal club is going great and I am looking forward to having new members join. This summer the penpal club should have tons of great new members and some really great letters and pics to share with each other. So if anyone is interested in joinning the club please feel free to email.I am also looking forward to a great deal we got for some of the NY zoos. That is right we are looking for something in the lines of fun field trips while we are out here, and have found that the central park zoo, bronx zoo, forest park zoo,and the NY aquarium have a package deal.We were able to get a full year of unlimited visits to those places for a mere $150 for the whole family. Not including the fact that they give you 4 free parking passes, discounts on food and gift shops as well as unlimited attractions. So it was $150 for 2 adults and 4 kids and 1 extra guest each visit to enter for free, for the whole year.It was great. So we jumped on it.We also decided to go to see the lion king with the whole family.I saw as a gift this mothers day from my husband for me and my mother to go and had the best,I tell you the best time ever.It was incredible! I absolutely loved it and found that if you get 15 or more to go ,you get a great discount. So The Lion King it is this summer for us! As for our kids, they are just getting into the end of there year now,and having a ball putting together there portfolios.I am sure everybody is having there own fabulous time doing so as well.My kids love being creative and being able to scrapbook with the computer to make there portfolios.Well try to share some of the pages with you guys when we are done.Has everybody heard about the TOS Summer Reading Splash. My kids are reared up to partake. It is just what we needed to reading on the go here! They have already read 4 books today alone just so they could enter something on there logs, lol! It was great! And the best part my kids are excited to see how the weekly contest go.They love free books,a trait they have received from there mother no doubt! I am a fean for free books! I just love them!So if anyone ever knows or would like to share any sites that are sharing do email me please.! I a mamma with a tight budget, lolol! We homeschooling moms know how that goes, lolol!!! But yes ,quiet a year for us.We were able to announce the births of 3 new babies into our extending family. My brothers baby which I shared the sonogram of below,on Feb 25,08 and the birth of 2 nephews whom I adore and congratulate my cousins on having them, one is like a sister to me.They were born on April 18th,08 and the other more recently to the cousin whom I love like a sister on May 15,08.I must say how exstactic I am to have all these beautiful babies around me is wonderful.Jaiden is growing and being a typical soon to be 2 year. But he is wonderful and so smart! He is our grogeous lil man!He will be traveling with us to NY soon to visit my grandparents from which he has only been able to see twice since he was born.So yes a much needed visit from him is needed. My brother too has recently made the move to NY with his daughter and soon to be wife.Which is wonderful. It just seems like the season for my extended family to be together has come and everyone is just coming home,so to speak. So pray for our families to continue to go forward in life and with the father ahead of us all.Blessings and Shalom til next time!

Not So Wordless Wednesday!
Well B-days,B-days,B-days everywhere!
2 of my kids B-days were this month, within 4 days of each other. So as you can imagine it requires a ton cooking on my part.We don't make a huge deal out of birthdays,we celebrate very simply, with each other. It goes something like this.
Wake up eat breakfast ,go out with dad to toys"r"us to pick out a toy, they are given a $20 limit for the toy.Any toy they want ,they just have $20 to spend. They are also signed up for the b-day club at toy"r"us which send them a $3 off coupon and a $5 of coupon as well.So they are permited to use the $3 coupon to make there own purchase of a candy or something of that nature for no more then the $3.We use the $5 coupon on there gift purchase to save some money and there gift comes out to $15 for us.which is great for us since we are on a tight budget. Then they pick whatever dinner meal they would like to have for dinner that day,as well as whatever kind of cake they want too. They all choose different things so it is not difficult. My oldest son always wants mash potatoes, mac &cheese, and spicy chicken with vanilla cake & frosting and vanilla brownie ice cream. My second oldest who's bday happens to come first always ask for pizza with a chocolate cake &frosting with chocolate ice cream. My daughter always ask for noodle soup with bicuits and a chocolate ,chocolate chip cake w/vanilla frosting and chocolate chip ice cream. And last but not least my youngest daughter whos bday will be here soon has already asked for chicken & french fries and a strawberry cake w/vanilla frosting and nepolitan ice cream. So I can't wait til my bday comes and I request that day off to sleep until 2pm,lololol
! Yeah right,I wish!
! Oh,well, maybe one day!So here are some pics of there b-days.

Well thats all for this Not So Wordless Wednesday! Hope everyone has blessed rest of the week!Shalom!

Busy,Busy,Busy!

Well today is my daughters birthday, and I will making her cake soon. But that is not my busy part.My busy part this week will be all the packing, and cleaning and having schooltime.I will be emailing all the moms from the penpal club on the 29th of this month, which is very soon. And I also have a ton of packing up to do in this house. We will be moving soon into town and I really would like to be more oraganized in this move then in we have been in past moves. We have lived her for almost 5years now,and love it,but we pay so much monthly that we just can't afford to be as comfortable as we have been, which is not convinent since the kids are getting older.I also need to shampoo the carpet take the dog to the vet and get the kids some winter jackets within the next 2 weeks. So yes like I said Busy, busy, busy.I have not included the fact that everything on my Monday meanderings has to still take place as well.lolol!Fun huh?
! Well I am looking forward to getting it done though.I am so looking forward to the weekend.lol!
I really need it!I will be going to the movies friday morning to see some new kids flick my kids have cohersed dad into taking them to see, then on sunday it is family night bowling. We went yesterday and mom here left with a wapping 62 score while my 10 yrold left with a 110 score.
I know shameful huh! I think next time I am asking for the bumpers!lolol!
!I can't wait.Anyway we are finishing up some pages on the water cycle, which has been kind of fun.We are also preparing to start a pill bug habitat,We found a bunch of info from a cosuin who loves bugs,so we are running with it.I also found a blogger who described how to get a habitat together and well we are running like I said!Fun huh!Other moms try to keep the bugs out and my kids love to adopt them, lolol!
! Oh,the life of a homeschooler! But we will be doing that as soon as we move, because we really need to see how the moving goes first..Well keep us in prayer,we are trying for a house ,that we really think is a great thing for us since we have always rented and would really love to qualify and be approved. So we find out within the next 2 weeks. So keep that in prayer. We really want this house.Well those are my ramblings just needed some venting time.Well blessings, and Shalom to all.

Penpal Club Update!

Hey you guys,I just wanted to let everyone who is interested in having there kids join our penpal club to join our penpal yahoo group. There you find out themes for each month, and also any club events that will be taking place.I created the yahoo group so that it would be much easier for me to keep the parents informed and updated with info, without having to email so many individually. We begin our mailings on November 5,2007. I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone who has already joined and for the friendships that will be formed from this club.I have made the yahoo group very private for the Club members parents ONLY.So when those of you who are not a member already, receive the questionare,it is not to offend but simply to keep the kids safe,I am a parent first above all things,So do not feel uncomfortable, once again it is simply a precaution.I think all us moms can appreciate that.
The yahoo group is; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/homeschoolingpenpalclub You can share links for stationary ,suggestions on activities for the themes of the months, and any questions you have.I hope you all have a blessed week.
Shalom!

Not So Wordless Wednesday!!!

Here is my not so wordless Wednesday pics!

This was the Kooky dough receipe I did with the kids.We have some out still waiting to see the results. Will show you those pics soon.
Sorry it is so small ,it's the best I got for now.
Here are some of the pics from the body building show on Saturday. The guy with my kids is my moms husband Louis.
My grandmother helped make some of that costume and she is in her sixty's, Not bad huh..She is a great sewer and and very creative lady. All those pieces are authentic indian pieces. It is a beatiful costume.

Sorry if it did not come out clear I have not yet gotten this downloading down.lolol..

these are the winners from the night. They received there procards,to compete in other competitions.

This is a poster we did for animal awareness week.We are very big lovers and supporters of this breed of dog.We have raised 6 in total and taken in 2 of those six, from people who have not been the best of owners. And all are and were like family to us.My kids loved doing this project because they learned about a breed of dog they love and know very well..This was a pleasure for us.

This is a ocean life mural we worked on for about 2 weeks.
Well Blessings and I hope you enjoyed my not so Wordless Wednesday sharings!

Simplicity!
I am looking for simplicity .Shabbat is tomorrow. And while I have done my best to keep shabbat a rest day,I have found it difficult. With 4 young children,I find myself cleaning up and behind them more on shabbat then any other day..That is not good, when I should be honoring the day of rest as a day of rest.So here it is,I am going back to leaving the cleaning for thursday and going to do my best to relax on friday,The meals will be simple hot dog or burger meals or even some chicken tender meals.something not much effort needs to be done, but we can still enjoy..Also potatoe salad days are making a come back in this house,lolol..it will be potatoe salad and green salads for friday nights and saturday nights. That way we can rest and enjoy our family time together. My mom will be by tomorrow, her husband has a body building competition on sunday that he has been preparing for and my mom wants to spend time with the kids,so they will be by at noon tomorrow.I am looking forward to the early visit since the house is clean right now,and I have been cleaning all week..I have
dusted
vaccumed
done daily dishes
cleaned kids bathroom
cleaned out summer/ pulled out fall clothes
begun the DR uncluttering, and gotten far with it
begun packing for moving purposes
cleaned kitchen
and have washed all the quilts and enough clothes for the week.
I have also been able to stick with my menu plan, and have been able to get what I wanted done for school.I had to put a holt on the hayesod study because I need the next video. But I am looking forward to getting that within the next 2 weeks. We have also made some kooky dough (playdough),that we got the receipe from a fellow blogger, and my kids loved it.We are going to share the receipe with our homeschool group..So thank you! I will post up her info as soon as I check out her blog info from my favorites.Sorry for the wait. If you want the receipe just email me.Anyway I hope everyones weekend goes well..We have a busy one ourselves..So blessings, and pray for us because we will begin our frist lapbook this week..It will be on water cycles..Blessings again and Shalom.
