Mary in Maryland

Jun. 15, 2009 - Monday in D.C.

Well we started the day at the Washington Monument waiting for tickets, but when we got our tickets they were for too late in the day so we gave them away. I would have liked to go up, but we still had a lot of fun with out doing it. It is also a good reason to come back some day!

Here are pictures of the Washingotn Monument ( from the ground ) and the World War II Memorial.

Next we went to the Lincoln Memorial.

Then we went and saw the Korean and Vietnam Memorials.

Then we stoped at rested while I wrote in my Journal.

Then we walked around the White House.

After a picnic lunch, we started on the Museums! We did American History and Natural History!

I plan to do a special post just  about the Museums so I am not doing pictures here.

I am having a wonderful time!

M.R.

P.S. Theses are pictures Emily took because I haven't downloaded my camera. I will be adding pictures to this post soon that are the one I took. So be shure to read it again and see what I added.

Jun. 13, 2009 - Saturday's Story

Well I know I did a post about last Saturday however here is the whole story!

As you know I arived Friday evening and Saturday morning we got of to a fast start! We started at the Naval Academy, we were there until almost three.

We got to the visitor center like three minutes be for the next tour, how's that for timing? The tour was really cool and our guide was very nice! Here is her picture next to "Bill the Goat" the Navy mascot!

It seems that if Navy brings "Bill" along when they are going to compete against Army, Army wins. When thy don't bring him they lose. (They really have a goat that they dress up to bring to football games.)

Here is an indoor track room that we saw on the tour.

Here are all of the footballs (painted gold) of from all the games that Army lost!!

This is one of the Wright brothers planes they told the navy if thay would buy three planes, they would teach three of their men to fly them.

We saw a man with a T-shirt that said "Two wrongs don't make a right, But two Wrights make and airplane"

Here you can see the dome of the chapel where all the weddings where taking place. At one point one wedding had just come out and was on the front steps taking pictures, and the next wedding party was goining in the side door. They only do weddings on Saturday's and do sometimes as many as eight on the same Saturday!!

This is a Japanese torpedo from pearl harbor.

We had trouble finding someone to take pictures of the two of us so here is a shot I took with self timer on my camera!

Its not so bad, maybe a little blurry.

Here are some cool cannons!! Boom! Boom! (and pretty girls)

These are some other fun picture you might like to see!

Emily took this on of us:)

This is the inside of Bancroft Hall.

Well haven't come to posting all the pictures of the Academy but I think I will tell you about the rest of the day!

Around three we desided it was high time to get something to eat. So Emily took me to this little place called Chick and Ruth's Deli. I had the best cherry vanilla milk shake on earth.

We spent the rest of the day in Annapolis seeing the sights. We saw the state house, governers house and went shoping!

Here are the pictures!

Emily in front of the governers house.

The top of the State House.

Em on the front steps of the State House.

This is a little bunny we saw on the lawn at the state house.

Me on the state house steps.

Emily took these next picture, I think it would make a great post card!

This is the state house I think its the back.

Here is one I took that I think is really pretty !

Just to let you know, I took all the pictures of Emily, and she took the pictures of me!

We finished the day by the bay resting are feet!!

And watching the boats!

I had a truly beautiful first day in Maryland!

I will try to bring every thing up to date soon. Today was Emily's grad party and we had a verry good time.

Blessings

Jun. 12, 2009 - Good Morning!

Hello,

I know it's late or is it early? It is 1:05 here.   But I wanted to just write a little bit and tell you what I have been doing.

I can't get to my photos right now so you will have to wait and hear all about Annapolis and D.C. later (maybe tomorrow)

I have taught Emily to use the bead loom and she is really good at it.

Today we made a table runner and then I made a table cloth. Today also had an outing to Jo-ann fabric where we bought what we needed to make Mrs. Nowak, Emily, Lila, and me all skirts! We will be doing a lot of sewing!

For anyone who doesn't know I brought my sewing machine with me. I didn't want it to get broken so I packed it carry-on ( I wasn't sure they would let me take it carry-on but I decided to try). When I went through security, it went through the X-ray machine, the man watching the machine said "Is that your bag" I said "Yes" He said "Sewing machine?" I said "yes" and that was that,  I went right on through!

We just finished a German Chocolate Cake for Emily's grad party and it is in the oven right now!

Just for fun today I French braided My hair, Emily's and Lila's!! Emily's hair looked really sweet!

Well the cake just came out and I want to frost it while it is hot so I have to go.

Lots of love to all,

M.R.

Jun. 7, 2009 - Saturday's Adventure!

On Saturday our first big adventure was taking a tour at the United States Naval Academy.

My mom was real worried that I might meet some handsome midshipman and never come home. Well, there was a wedding.

Just kidding...there wasn't a wedding--there were two of them!

Actually, neither me nor Emily have fallen in love but we did see nine weddings!

Jun. 4, 2009 - Only 17 1/2 hours to go!!

Just think in less than 18 hours I will be on a plane flying to Maryland!!

Today and yesterday was all little last minute things that had to be done before I leave. Now it is all done and all I have to do is wait, wait, wait, this may be the longest night of my life!

So why am I going to Maryland?

My friend Emily is graduating this next week and I am flying out for her party. I am also going because I have never been to D.C. so we will be going there and Annapolis to see all the sights!!

I want to use this blog to record all I do on this trip so my family and friends can share some of the fun. I hope you all enjoy the ride!
