• Jan. 3, 2007 - Home Improvements......

Over the break, A. Luan and I were busy little beavers with home improvements.  One them was to paint the bedroom, office, and put up trim (our version of crown molding) throughout the house.   We thought the project would only take a day.....well you know how projects go!  It took about 3 days and we still need to finish painting the trim in the Great Room  and Kitchen.

Here are some pics!
This is the office.  The top color is a creamy butter yellow color.   I really like the way it turned out.  We have put some pillows on the floor so the kids can sit and read books.

This is the bedroom.  The light patch on the red wall is the glare from the window.  Couldn't get rid of it:)  A. Luan found the comforter set at Target on Clearance.  When he got home it matched our colors perfectly!  I was sooo excited!   The red on this wall matches the red in the office.

This is a corner in the Living Room.  The green color is not the same as the bedroom.  It is a sage color in reality.  The yellow is the same as the office yellow.  The rest of the Great Room is this yellow color while the kitchen is painted with this green and the one wall in the living room.  It is really nice when you enter the house.  Eventually on this green wall (it is nearly 20 feet long), a. Luan wants to build bookshelves into the wall.  He will make them with open backs so that the green will show through.

Okay, well why wouldn't I? I mean don't we do enough similar things already?! Except for the yellow (which I now need!), I have these same 2 colors mixed & matched throughout my bedroom, living room, kitchen, bath, & den! The trim looks awesome too! I love the idea of the built-in bookshelves. We did these in the kids rooms with window seats in between. You can never have enough bookshelves!
