There's a party goin' on right now...
Let's celebrate
It's alright....

Yeah, I know, I'm weird! What do you expect? I grew up with four brothers, and now have FIVE boys of my own! Yes, FIVE!! And they are all wonderful, God-fearing, handsome young men. (I almost wrote young me! That would be a scary thought!) I also have one beautiful young lady. She is six. She is my little shadow and my little helper.
Welcome! We are a Reformed Christian Alaskan homeschooling family. We live on six acres of the 23,000 square miles available in the beautiful Matanuska Valley. My dh and I grew up looking at Mt. McKinley, the highest mountain in North America, in our "backyard' in the little village of Talkeetna. We also raised our family there for six years. We are now living farther south, but still in the Valley.
We enjoy snowmachining (what you all call snowmobiling), Boy Scouts, gymnastics, playing instruments, and watching educational movies. Recently we have watched Planet Earth, James Cameron's Expedition: Bismarck, 2002 and To the Moon: Nova. We HIGHLY recommend Planet Earth! It is a BBC film, and you have to overlook some of the environmentalist information that they say, but it is very little, and the cinematography is BEAUTIFUL!! Definitely worth the watch! I would like to purchase the set at some point!!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into our lives. Sit back and relax with a bowl of homemade tomato soup and grab some yummy Tortellini, Tomato and Salmon Salad too!
I hope you enjoy your time here! Please let me know you stopped by, and feel free to ask anything you would like about Alaska! Oh, and if you would like to exchange postcards with my kids, just email me your address! We are trying to collect postcards from all over the world!
Party on, dude!!!
Grace

Great to meet another 'northerner!' Although you probably laugh at me calling myself from 'up north!' Your family is beautiful! I'm always blown away by how many bloggers are homeschoolers -- I SO don't fit in!!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I look forward to getting to know you better!!

I'm so glad you stopped by today through the blog party...because it was so nice coming over here and reading about your wonderful family!
Yes, Alaska is even more northwest than Oregon for sure...I have always wanted to visit there and hope to someday!
I agree...we do have some things in common! Except for the fact that I am only home schooling two...I truly admire those of you with larger families who home school!
I hope you come by again soon...and I've bookmarked you!
Blessings,
~Tammy @Family Doin's

Loved reading your blog. It's great Sears takes back jeans when the knee wears out - that's great. Little boys do so tend to be on their knees alot. Would love to exchange post cards - I'll email you our address.

Hey, nice to meet you! Thanks for dropping by my party (http://usr-bin-mom.com). You and I have another thing in common besides homeschooling 6 kids: my best friend lives in Alaska! She is a youth minister in Homer, and she's getting married this April. :)

Hello!! I'm so happy to meet you!! We took a delayed honeymoon and went to Alaska (Stayed at Anchor Point, Seward, Denali and of course Anchorage, and also visited Fairbanks & North Pole) for our Honeymoon and we can't wait to go back someday when the kids are a little older to remember it. Hopefully the Salmon/Halibut fishing will be better then because we didn't do so hot when we went.
If you need a postcard from Michigan just let me know and I'll be happy to mail one off to you! :)

Isn't this party thing FUN!? Neat to see another HSB on here. I have a passel of boys (three) and one girl. She is our baby and a surprise...and a whole lot of preschool fun and frustration right now (pottytraining, nuf said). Just thought I'd mention it as I see you have a lone girl w/ lots of boys. =)
I'm sure my boys would LOVE to exchange postcards with you...Alaska is a long way away from TN. =) Drop me a private msg and we'll swap addresses.

I stopped by from the party and was thrilled to once again find your blog, somewhere in the miriad of computer crashes we had over the past couple of years I had lost your blog address. Wow, this party is turning out great.

How exciting that you are now in Wasilla. Did you have the opportunity to see the Iditarod start? The girls and I are following the Iditarod online. We enjoy cheering for DeeDee Jonrowe and Jessie Royer. I would love to be in Alaska to see the start one of these years.
Blessings,
Margie
