I just got this book in the mail yesterday.    It is "a practical, hands-on  and easy-to-use guide that shows moms and dads how to teach practical life skills to their children and encourage habits of godly living." (Excerpt from the back)

In the Forward, I read that we as parents must first learn these skills and traits in order to instill them into our children.  It is not enough to "tell" them to do these things, and act a certain way, but we must be living examples to our children of godly living.  What a hard task that is set before us.

The author has even included a Practical Living Skills Checklist, which she says can be freely photocopies for use with each child in the family.  This is a very interesting list!  Many of the things on the list my children already do and know, but there are some things that I didn't even think to touch on at this age.  It is amazing how intelligent our children are, and how much they can accomplish even at the youngest of ages.  And they *love* to learn at very young ages!  N and I were having a ball today, begging me for another job to do, even exclaming, "No, this is *my* job!" when someone tried to help them.

I am very excited to read this book, and helping myself to develop good habits and work on some character flaws in my life.  It should be a real eye-opener.
