Of Birthdays, Bible Schools, 100 pound cement blocks, and Summer Camps

Posted in My Life

Hellooooo!!!!

I hope someone is reading this, because I know I haven't posted in a while. I DID warn you, right? :)

Well, Tomorrow is my birthday!

AND SPEAKING OF BIRTHDAYS....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MADISON (Strive17)!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are now a teenager! Have a great year.

Well, let me find something else wonderful and exciting to tell you about what has been going on in my life lately.

As well as being my birthday tomorrow, tomorrow is also the start of our church's VBS program. And it is the start of my BUSY BUSY BUSY summer! starting tomorrow, I do things nonstop until the beginning of August. Here is the schedule:

VBS: June 9-13

Summer camp: June 15-20

Family Vacation: end of June, through early July

Mission Trip: July 27-August 1

So as you can see, I will be on the move a LOT this summer. I'm pretty stoked, but I have to say that I am a little bit wary, because I tend to get grumpy when I don't spend enough time at home. Which is part of the reason why I don't think going to school would be great for me. But I think that I will probably be going to school next year. =( I'm sad, but I guess I have had a long time to prepare myself for this time, so I will be OK. THIS IS NOT A FINAL DESICION, but I think that in the end, freshman year of highschool is the time to jump in if I'm going to jump in.

Well, back to Vacation Bible School (VBS). I am pretty excited, although I'm not working in the department I usually work in, and I don't know many people I'm working with. I'm working in 4 year olds, usually I work in 2s. I LOVE the 2s, but I think I need to start branching out to try and find out what kind of children's ministry fits me best, because I have a serious interest in children's or youth ministry. I would LOVE to be a youth pastor or minister. But I love kids too. =)

If you read my title, it says something about 100 pound cement blocks. Well, our patio is made up of 29 cement blocks that weigh probably about 100 pounds each. And guess what? We're re-doing our patio. OURSELVES. (because my parents are cheap!! =D) We WERE going to have a guy come and take out the blocks with his Bobcat, but he cancelled last minute, so my dad rented a pallet jack (It's hard to explain what it is. Basically, it's what you see in hardware stores that carry around boards and stuff.) and we had to borrow a huge metal crowbar from our friend's dad and jack up the blocks, prop them up on logs, shove the pallet jack under them and roll them across our yard on slabs of plywood. We only had about 2 slabs of plywood, so we had to constantly move them, while mom and dad tried to keep this huge block from rolling down the hill.......... It was PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SO TIRED when we were done. It took from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with about 2 hours of break to move about 20 blocks. I hated that job. SO. BAD.

Last thing I wanted to write about was my youth group summer camp. It starts in exactly 1 week, and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEEEEEEE.... ONly thing is, we all have to spslit up into four groups. Red, black, green, and blue. One of my friends is blue, one is green, and one is red! So basically I am going to be split up from my freiends. I have more friends than that, but I don't know what teams they're on. I haven't asked many people. I don't know which team I am yet, because I missed the event where they told you. So they're sending out postcards to everyone to remind them of their team. The cards should come today, which is why I have been waiting and WAITING for this day even more than my birthday, Camp is gonna be SWEETNESS! I'll post an edit to this entry when I find out what my team is. The mail should be here in about.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH it should be here NOW!!! IT'S LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLOOOOOOOO this is NOT THE DAY TO MESS WITH ME AND BE LATE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! lol can you tell I am super excited?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Well, if not, I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, talk to you soon! (probably tomorrow or the day after, just to tell you what my b-day gifts were and everything)

Love, Smiley1

EDIT: AAHHHHH... I hear the mail truck coming!!!!!!!!!!! =DDD

EDIT: I'm on the red team for camp!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

EDIT: Guess what? Dad just said that the cement blocks we dragged around yesterday were 800 pounds, not 100...... =OOOOOOOOOOO

SOOOOOOOOORRRY

Posted in My Life

Wow it's been forever since I wrote last. I've been too busy to write, and to be frank, I'm trying to just get rid of computer frivolities. . . =I

Anyhoo... our van broke down 3 days ago, so my dad has been trying to fix it... so we've been pretty much stuck at home.

The play that I was in was on May 7th and 8th, and it went fantastic, so I'm really glad it's over now, because I cannot wait for summer.

My grandma left to go back home to Florida this morning... soooo.. ya. She's been here for about 3 weeks.

This Sunday is my piano recital. =P *sigh*

Welp. . . I'm probably not going to write for a long time again, just because I'm getting really busy around this time of year, and this summer I'm going to be soooo busy that I'm not going to have time or the effort to write! So ta-ta for now!

Revival Experience!

Posted in My Life

Well...

it has been a while since I posted anything but tags... so I think I will do a real substantial post now.

Well, I kind of explained what was going on at our church in my last "real" entry, but that was before it all started. And now it's all over.

Let's just say that I think the Revival Summit was the best thing that ever happened to our church. And no one wanted the team to go!!!

We learned SO MUCH in the past 2 weeks about God, ourselves, others, and so many topics that we all struggle with in our Christian walk. It was amazing.

It gave me a glimpse of what I want to do with my life when I get old enough to be out on my own. I want to travel with a team like Life Action and change people's lives like they have changed mine. I will never be the same.

I now have the true joy of being a Christian... before this Revival I was just content with my life, and I knew that being a Christian was good and all, I was just never truly joyful in the fact that I AM A DAUGHTER OF THE KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that everyone gets a chance to participate in something as life-changing as these past 2 weeks have been for me. Everyone deserves a chance to get rocked by God!

On Tuesday it was the LAST NIGHT of the Revival before the team left... and it was a great time. We sang the entire time! =) But I about cried when it was all over. ='( And yesterday we were stuck in traffic going into town, and as we were turtling across the bridge, we saw 2 trucks pulling the team's trailers, and that was SO SAD. For not knowing these people for longer that 2 weeks, I feel amazingly attached to them!

It must be God.

Revival!

Posted in My Life

Hi!

I'm not sure if I have told you all this already, but I'm going to be (sorta kinda) off HSB for about 15 days. We have this HUGE thing going on at our church called the Revival Summit. Life Action Ministries is doing it, and I'm soooo stoked!! I went to the first-day events yesterday, and every day for the next 14 days we have something at the church (except Fridays and Saturdays). So I'm going to EXTREMELY busy with that, and trying to get school done and stuff. We're getting to the end of the school year (FINALLY)!!! YAY!!! Summer break!!!! lol

Speaking of my summer break, I probably won't be on here much during the summer (I hope!!) because I'm going to be really busy in summer too! I am super super super excited, because I have something REALLY special planned for this summer. I'm calling it my Do Hard Things Summer Challenge!!! Let me share my plans with you.

I have a couple categories of things that I'll be doing this summer:

  • Serving
  • Learning
  • Committing
  • and Playing!

Here are the things I plan to do in each of those categories:

Serving:

I'm going to serve in my church's Vacation Bible School program this year, and I'm also planning to go on a "mini" mission trip downtown in the poor areas of the town. It's going to be a really special time.

Learning:

I'm going to be trying to learn a lot about a bunch of different things, like cooking/baking, sewing, writing, painting/drawing, singing, acting, etc. The best way I know how to learn is to DO stuff, so I'm planning to sew a couple projects, write a story or two, paint and draw a little, teach myself singing and acting techniques, and read lots of books about all of these subjects!

Committing:

This is perhaps the thing that I am most excited about, but also most challenged by. I'm excited to commit to God, my family, my friends, and myself in any way that I can. I am committing to God that I will read my Bible every day, I am committing to my family & friends that I will pray for one of them every day, and I am committing to myself that I will "get in shape". You know, by doing stuff like sit-ups and push-ups every day. And I've also been tossing around the idea of running a mile every day.

Playing:

This is the most obvious thing that I'm going to do this summer. =) Just hang out. You know, swim, eat popsicles, play outside, go to friend's houses, go to my youth group summer camp, and do people's birthday parties. =D Fun stuff!!!!!

Ok well, my mom wants me to get off, but I just wanted to let you know that I may not be "actively on" HSB for a while, which means that I'll be checking comments, possibly checking your blogs and commenting, but not posting or messaging............... =I sorry.

Have an awesome day, and God Bless You!!

-Smiley1

P.S. Comment! Look at my Reviewing blog!! (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/reviewing/) Comment there too!!!
