Yesterday I was going thru some misc handouts from church and somehow one of the handouts that someone else had written on ended up comming home with us. :) And I like their notes. Its always nice to get someone else's perspective every now and then.
This handout was titled "Christ and His Church"
Mark 4:35-41
"And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, LET US PASS OVER UNTO THE OTHER SIDE.
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
And he arose, and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, PEACE, BE STILL. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And he said unto them, WHY ARE YE SO FEARFUL? HOW IS IT THAT YE HAVE NO FAITH?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and sea obey him?"
=============================================
1. His Ship: was full of His people, water
2. His Work: was to preach the word of God
3. Your Need: faith and understanding
4. Your Health: Is dependant upon the Lord
5. Your Ship: Is under Christ's command
6. Other Ships: (vessels) who were following him
7. Does He Slumber: only to bring us deeper into our faith.
8. Your Prayers: He wants us to go to Him with our prayers and concerns to strengthen our faith
9. Be Silent, be dumb: "Let not the wind any longer roar, or the sea rage." Tune out all the other noises and listen (turn) to Christ.
10. Your Fears: Should be given over to Christ. Our faith should be great enough that our fears pail in comparison. In Matthew it says the disciples marveled Jesus when He calmed the seas; in Mark it says they feared Him. He is much bigger than any storm.
Challenge: Look into your life. Find whatever trouble that is in it (your life) and compare it to a big wave, a roaring storm. Then look at how small those waves are compared to God.
